Our sinks were built in, but their cabinets were low and bending hurt my back. I determined the cabinets could be raised by adding a horizontal board just above the place at bottom that is indented for your toes. It added about five inches, bringing the counters up to the height of our kitchen counters. The board was stained to match the cabinet and is right under where the cabinet doors open. The line of the board is hidden by a length of wood trim. This raising up did require adding pipe to the water lines under the sinks to fill the pipe gap; moving the very large mirrors (no breaks or chips!) upward and moving the lighting above the mirrors up, as well. Took one day of work by carpenter and helper. Well worth the cost.

I have just put one into our holiday home as I've always loved the look. I've always fought shy of having one in our main house as friends and relatives tell me that theirs have chipped relatively easily. I'm being very precious with my new one, but hope that I can keep it unchipped! Personally I'm not a fan of stainless steel belfast sinks as I prefer to have a traditional looking as opposed to a very contemporary kitchen. I do agree though that they can look wonderful in the right environment. Apologies for the picture being the wrong way round, never mastered the digital photo...

Mylands. You always regret your economies. I've repainted this kitchen 4X over the years, and last time was in Dulux which wore so poorly. Just custom mixed a new vibrant duck egg to paint my kitchen in marble matt walls, eggshell woodwork, and floor paint. Mylands matched impeccably. It was a dream of coverage, and looks spectacular. The quality of the pigment shows, looks the money, nothing like synthetic mediocre pigments in cheaper paint. It's a big improvement.
