Comments (22)I hv no idea what that is. My country do never have such fancy thing. LOL. But its nice to make as a cupboard. And hang pictures above it. I'd get rid of the shelving. Maybe you can repaint the rayburn. Of black and red or of two colors that would compliment your room. Would you conside putting a wood on the rayburn itself so itd look like a counter or smtg. I'd place the TV on the other wall beside the door and your couch opposite it. A small round table and a chair by the window, to hv tea and see outside? If there is nice view....See MoreLiving room ideas help
Comments (12)The table looks in good repair, but yes, the blue legs date it a bit. Give the legs a sand down, and paint! I think I would steer away from solid black but a dark charcoal? or white? If white you could then locate some white chairs to go with it, or a mix of chair styles painted white for an eclectic look. There venetians are a little stark, some curtains at the window ? The light fitting provides an interest point, providing a softer light and texture in the room - your other lamp on the table could be more substantial, with some interesting texture in the shade....See MoreLiving Room Ideas
Comments (5)Hi Natalie, You have a beautiful room to work with. Lots of light and space. Here is what I had in mind for you. The pink as you said, it is nice, but you can definitely go darker as you have three massive windows. I went for "Immersed" by Crown & Elle paints, which is an elegant shade of blue-is grey-ish colour. I have also used Crown & Elle for my whole house and although is not the famous Farrow & Ball, I must say it is of very good quality with great coverage. The "Immersed" shade will also add an elegant finish to the room. When it comes to painting the room, I would paint all four walls and the ceiling in the same shade, for uniformity. This will create more balance with the light furniture. I went with a natural look for the furniture which will create a nice contrast between the walls and the furniture. The sofa is a 3 seater (I thought that's the size you have in your photos) in a light finish but you can also go slightly darker as I noticed you have a young daughter, though companies now do offer a wide variety of sofa textiles that are stain resistant. You can add a glass and brass coffee table, brass side tables, and a matt white glass with brass finishes for a ceiling light. I don't know how high the ceiling is, but normally in England the houses don't have high enough ceilings for a chandelier. If your room is high enough, you could opt for a chandelier. I have also noticed that you have some beautiful wooden floors so I chose an oak dining table which can go on the wall where you have the second sofa next to the white timber panel on the wall. If the panel doesn't have a functional purpose and it is only for design, you could remove this and replace it with 4 square photo frames (Ikea has those) and put your favourite family photos in black and white. The fire place can have the frame changed to a more modern style to match the rest of the scheme - I have included an example for you in my photo. Soft furnishing such as cushions can include brown leather (for additional texture), light textile and woven fabrics. The rug I have used is the Berala rug from Made.com In regards to the furniture I have used in this example, all of it is from Made.com except the dining table with is from John Lewis Home. I hope this helps. Regards, Aleczandra AleczandraLeeInteriors.com...See MoreLiving room Ideas required
Comments (4)To create some cosy - run with the console table, but a narrow one along the short wall as the door opens. If that has a wall sconce light, it can be used to light the table. One in a wood would bring some warmth, so you could go a blonde or a darker wood. Part of the reason you may be feeling a lack of cosines is it is a very stark space - with tiles, no drapes and modernist light fittings - so some texture will help bring warmth. Maybe an entry rug? Or a rug under the dining table? You have a lamp there next to the dining table, it needs something larger to sit on - a sideboard? This could be a modern piece to keep with a simple aesthetic, but again I would consider wood over a metal/glass or marble piece. Don’t rush to fill the space- look for something you really like....See Morebabophz
