What colour should I paint these kitchen doors.

walnut is so hard to keep and I want some advice on what colour to paint the doors. I live the granite worktop as it's so easy to keep clean. any advice is welcome

Comments (7)You should always do a watered down mist coat on new plaster. We used the dulux trade matte diamond paint from a dulux mixing centre. Whilst it is brilliant for being able to wipe stuff off it I would say it had more of a sheen to it then I wanted so wouldn't recommend for ceilings. Comments (1)If you are looking for a green based grey I would recommend farrow and ball Old White. We are just having our house repainted this colour. I wanted grey but we are surrounded by greenery and the blue based greys looked light blue rather than grey. The green base to Old White works well with greenery. Its also a very classic colour and so is easy to live with (or at least I hope so!). I have been amazed at how different the different greys look when put next to one another. All look grey in isolation. Comments (43)I think your instinct is spot on - the grey does not go with your lovely house at all! You said yourself, 'the grey craze', why follow the herd? Perhaps you should question why you want a 'contemporary colour' instead of one of the many choices which will enhance your beautiful period house. You don't see lovely pink Suffolk cottages, or the black and white half timbered houses characteristic of some areas daubed with grey because it's the latest fad....See More

8 years agoYour flooring and worktops are neutral, so pretty much anything will go. I think a sage green grey would look great like Farrow & Ball French Gray or more of the green with Lichen. If you want something more neutral, Farrow and Ball Hardwick White, stony Ground, Elephants Breath all great Colours or Little Greene Rolling Fog (which comes in different shades from pale to dark if you wanted to have different shades within the room). You could even go dark grey, blue, pretty much anything. What sort of feel do you want to create and which direction does the room face, how much light does the room get - these have a massive bearing on colour.

8 years agoWell if there's not much light then a warm off white or pale cream would be best. Pics are Farrow and Ball Shaded White, second image is shaded white on the island unit with Farrow & Ball Pointing. Or have a look at Little Greene Rolling Fog pale.

8 years agomy kitchen is similar colour to yours and like you I get little light so it is fine when there is daylight but as soon as it is a dull day it is not fine. I posted on here earlier this year and was suggested paint my top doors a light colour, I have the paint just need to do it but doing it as part of my doing up kitchen/dinning room and have started on dinning room.
