I'm very happy with my sofa from Love your home for less company, they can accommodate different custom size requirements, too. The only thing is, the sofa needs to be seen in person - I went to their showroom intent on buying one sofa, and ended up buying a very different one (which did not look that great in the catalog).

I too always had the thoughts that hand made pieces were much more expensive...but not always the case... And its immensely satisfying when you get the style, size and colours of what you would need... My brother in law has made me just a few piece... Very simple, for storage.. But THEY FIT. just where they need too.. I love wood.. My Dad was a French cabinet maker in the early 50's and as child I would sit at the table and watch in amazing ways he worked with wood... Small pieces he would make us simple little toys, or no's... Nothing painted. We were very lucky in our home to have cupboards in the kitchen, on the wall fitted and it was covered in Formica... We also had a beautiful solid wood fireplace... Shelves for Mums little ornaments (which would never touch, look with your eyes only). I too like to work with wood, when having the chance...memories that will stay with me forever.. (Sorry for the reminiscing.).. But yes so wish I could afford to build my own home and incorporate all the things...Made By hand... Thanks for a very interesting article....

@Christa Taylor. Most aggression in dogs tends to be fear based. She is basically telling everyone to go away. Have you had her all her life? There is a crucial socialisation period where a puppy needs to meet all sorts of people and other animals so that she gets used to them. However, some dogs are still fearful despite this socialisation and it is part of their inherited personality. How old is your grandson? If he is older, he could try feeding her tasty snacks so that she gets used to him and sees him as less of a threat. He needs to wait for her to approach, never the other way round. He mustn't try to stroke or pick her up as he could get bitten. Now i could suggest a Dog Behaviourist, but there are so many charlatans out there as it is un-regulated so tread carefully. Your little Chi probably won’t change, but you can manage her safely with help, I do know of a very good Behaviourist in Herts who also carries out Consultations for Wood Green Animal Shelter in Cambs if you want her details?

Oh, I did mean to write earlier that I usually advise clients to shy away from making a feature wall a wall that has doors or windows because bold patterns in wallpaper and windows can work against each other easily. Not always so of course, but can easily happen, which is why I would say use the upholstery fabric as your feature rather than wallpaper. That might be a lot going on - headboard, feature wall, curtains. If you want wallpaper, my advice would be to do the whole room which could be wonderful, then the above rule doesn't really apply. (Check out Cole and Sons wallpaper - they have some wonderful patterns this season that would suit a Victorian home beautifully). But if this is the case, I would go with a more neutral shade in the window treatment. Good luck!
