Any thoughts on our latest kitchen design?
Comments (3)Hi Fehime, Lay-out is better regarding the position of the island and the the way the tall units frame the hob area. A couple of small changes; I would have a hidden extractor, either telescopic or canopy. this will really help keep those clean lines most clients look for in a modern kitchen concept. Also is there a need for so many taps? If you are looking for a tap which is boiling (98 degrees) filtered and hot and cold may I suggest the Abode tap, beautiful design and only one tap. The breakfast bar I would suggest, rather than adding another stepped up worktop, just run the existing worktop 300/350mm out to the same distance it is now. Also by having the worktop one level it will be more useful prep and serving area. These small changes will still give you all the elements you want just simplified. Love the warm colour and the worktop colour! We hope this helps, keep us up to date on your design journey! The team at Modus Kitchens...See MoreThoughts please! Could this look work with my final kitchen design?
Comments (46)Ikea Kitchens are excellent, the attention to quality is superb. Lots of suppliers only offer doors in particular sizes, which is why when you go to an appointment at Wickes for example and you then take it to Howdens, they often have to swap the cabinets around as they don't all do all the sizes. Factoring in that you may want to change the doors in a few years at this point is in my opinion daft. You buy a kitchen and it should last 10-15 years. Magnet and Howdens offer great kitchens too. However, I have personal experience of fitting an Ikea Kitchen last year and was very impressed. I've used Howdens several times too. There are many companies however, that offer custom sizes when ordering replacements such as Kitchen door workshop and Kitchen Door Outlet to name but two. Saying that you can't replace the doors, just simply isn't accurate....See MoreMove bathroom upstairs and extend kitchen - proposed layout and costs
Comments (19)I'd go for option 5 for upstairs as you can make the attic room into a bedroom further down the line. I wouldn't want a windowless bathroom and it'd be easier to run plumbing directly over the former bathroom. Honestly speaking, £11k is not going to cover the upstairs bathroom and kitchen unless you're very handy and are going to do most if this yourself. Even then a new kitchen will blow that budget. I would do the upstairs bathroom and use whatever you have left to rip out the old bathroom suite, lay some lino and have a WC / utility room with the hopes of a bigger renovation of the kitchen/dining/lean-to space further down the line....See MoreThoughts / ideas for our proposed kitchen diner extension
Comments (18)hi! I've already had the structural engineer calcs done, and they suggest we don't need a pillar, however I will double check this with them? I had a think about moving the existing utility, toilet and hall around, however as these rooms have already been done I'm reluctant to start moving them around due to the mess and the additional cost. Based on this I've revised our design. I'm not sure about the chimney, but due to where we want the kitchen we wouldnt be able to use the old ones, a wood burner isnt something we have to have, its just a nice to have, and im not 100% where to put it yet or where it will be allowed to go! The staircase goes over the toilet as well. thanks for all your input on this by the way! got me thinking!...See MoreBen Whitwell
