I'm considering purchasing 2 bluebell sofas, bit nervous as I can't visit a showroom, how have you found yours and what material did you choose, how is it standing up to every day wear.

Hi Sam, As manufacturers, suppliers and installers of glazing - including award winning versions of both sliding doors and bifold doors (and therefore not biased towards either system) there are a couple of options that we would suggest. In terms of the things to consider when choosing the right type of system for you, we actually wrote a blog on this very subject that you may find of interest. Normally for the size of opening you have our initial recommendation would be bifold doors, including aluminium, timber or composite options, simply for the ability to create a complete opening. The German designed and made, award winning SUNFLEX SF55 doors have the narrowest profile of any aluminium system on the market at 115mm and includes a number of completely unique features, making them the most advanced doors on the market, having said all of that we note your concerns regarding the space taken up on the balcony. At 2.45m we would have suggested a three-panel bifold set that provides a single access door for every-day use. The other option we would recommend is theEDGE, our award winning ultra-slim sliding door system with narrow intermediate sightlines of just 24mm. This system wouldn't allow you to create a complete opening, but when closed would truly maximise both your view over the valley and the amount of light you get into the room, plus would not take up space on the decking. At 2.45m wide we would normally install a two-panel door that would allow you to open half the aperture or a a three-panel system that would allow you to have an opening of c.1.6m. Hi Sam, If the doors opened outwards they would stack approximately 85cm out on to the patio at one end of the opening (they can be designed to open to whichever end suits you best). The width of this stack would only be just over 17cm if you opted for our award-winning SF55 system. With regards to the doors folding back completely against the brickwork, the required angle that the hinges would need to achieve and the weight of the door system mean this is not an option unfortunately, We can also supply French Doors, and at this size the doors would open in an arc of just under 1.3m - or you could opt for a 3 panel sliding door with 80cm panels that would not protrude out on to the patio and would have a bigger glass-to-frame ratio than bifold doors, but with the caveat that only two-thirds of the space would be open as the doors always stack behind one panel. Hi Sam, I have been through the exact same trauma as we are doing a big project with a stupidly small budget. I'm no expert, but by trial and error, this is what I have found... 2700k warm white bulbs give the closest light to halogen - but a much cleaner light. Totally agree that one company's 2700k is not the same as another!... which is a headache! Also some with the wrong CRI value can make you look like zombie when under them and make your vegetables look insipid when you are cooking... We settled on Philips 2700k bulbs in our downlights and are very happy with them (not too yellow but comfortably warm). We bought standard downlight cans and fitted the bulbs in... We have also used Scolmore Click Inceptor Micro downlights (2700k) in some places as we had shallow void ceilings there. They have integrated bulbs and are really good value but a lot warmer- a lot more of a yellowy light. I have used 3000k fittings for our accent lights (shower niches etc) which balance out the light temperature when they are all on together (hope that makes sense?) Also have Arrow Electrical 3000k integrated fittings in the corners of our hall which make the hall feel too cold but when the central pendant (halogen bulbs) is on then looks great in balance. If you have the budget there are some great fittings out there to choose from - you do get what you pay for on this one, but this is the best I found in our circumstances. Since the ceiling is so high, perhaps a darker color on the top part would create a more den-like feel. Solid color on the ceiling, perhaps a wallpaper on the walls (top 70cm or so). Some slaths along the edges and stategically placed vertical to make the walls look like paneling. All in white. Story: I lived in a 25m2 studio apartment (rental) before I bought a house with my love. The ceiling was 3m high. Bathroom (2.8x2.5m) had white tiled walls up to 2m and pale grey floortiles, no tub, very drab, very not me. So I painted the complete top part bright sky blue (and bought some retro showercurtain and bright colored towels). Best thing ever! And I'm not even a blue lover. Short: Some contrast makes a space come to life!
