Brick slips & underfloor heating?

Please could someone tell me if you can use brick slips to tile a floor? We were thinking about a reclaimed style of brick floor.

I also wanted to know if you are able to use brick slips with under floor heating too?

I am not sure of the exact kind of under floor heating that is being installed - part will be in a new extension and part in the original part of the house on what is currently a standard timber floor.

Underfloor heating is lovely underfoot - but do remember - with all those shiny surfaces - You might find it could be quite echo'y !! Consider a rug in the soft seating area or dining area if you have one . It's a good idea to plan not just the kitchen - but the whole extended room - as one affects the other at the same time. Think about situations like if the kids and their friends are all on the stools at the island anyone wanting to get past will have to shimmy past you working at the sink - and if the DW is open this might be even more difficult ! In such a big space all of a sudden you can see things have got a bit tight ! Also, large drawers are great for storing stuff in - and although they cost more than cupboards - they are much easier to use and see what's in them etc consider having lots more of those ! In the end I went for Herschel panels as I was time pressured and they were quick to install . So far they seem to be working very well ....however it is too early to see how efficient they will be energy wise ( I am using remote timers for zoning and control) and of course the weather has been fairly mild so far for this time of year. Will have to put more feedback in a months time!

If considering wood you could get unfinished wood installed. Companies such as Wood Floor Accessories are a great supplier. Having it finished on site means a finish can be picked that works for your home. Each home has variables such as pets, different traffic and the owners desire to maintain the flooring or aversion to maintenance. Having wood finished on site has advantages. You can pick the highest quality product that works for your budget. The range of finishes available is quite wide. A professional company will try to understand your home and recommend the appropriate finish. They will also understand how easily the finish was can be renovated in the future. Amtico is an extremely robust product but being plastic, is just plastic flooring. It has its place, as does wood. In areas that have plenty of light surfaces, scratches show very easily on Amtico, Karndean etc. The manufacturers push a polishing maintenance product on consumers. However, this needs to be stripped and reapplied on a regular basis.
