Living room...just can't get it to work
Comments (47)Hi Lauren, Reading this I think you don't love it yet because there is too much contracts between the dark sofa and the light wall. Paint the wall, don't worry about light- that is a massive window. Don't worry about it feeling smaller - it won't I also agreed that the curtains need to be on a wider pole or the window should be dressed with an additional something (wood slatted blind?)...See MoreLiving Room dilemma
Comments (4)Hi. Apologies if I'm stating the obvious but try cutting out templates in sofa and chair sizes. You can then try arranging the templates in numerous ways to see what works best. It could be for instance that 2 sofas of the same size work best. I would also just be a bit careful about the tv in front of the radiator, furniture doesn't always look great in front of them. The room also looks pretty long? It could be that you have a couple of chairs arranged around the fire with maybe a small table or foot stool and then a tv area with sofa down the patio door end. As Susan said, furniture positioned across the room in narrow rooms tends to look a lot better otherwise you can end up with a corridor effect...See MoreDesign dilemma #living room
Comments (36)Hello. I've been reading about rugs and allergies and decided to have a go with either jute or polypropylene rug, which should be fine in my circumstances. I wander if this designs are a bit too crowded for my space: http://m.laredoute.co.uk/ppdp/prod-350020090?docid=221816 http://m.laredoute.co.uk/ppdp/prod-350039225?docid=221816# This is my favourite so far but they don't have the larger sizes available: http://m.laredoute.co.uk/ppdp/prod-324515229?docid=221816# Or this?: http://m.laredoute.co.uk/ppdp/prod-324152642?docid=221816#searchkeyword=jute rug Tomorrow I will post some pics of the room at present. It's been used as a playground so it's not great but.. Hopefully you will help me find a nice rug to add :)...See MoreHelp with new kitchen design - I can't get it to work!!!!!!
Comments (4)Definitely lose the wall. Is the fireplace in use? If not, maybe you could also build in front of it. ( Maybe you could have the hob where the fireplace is in the corner? ) I see also that you've gone for a free standing fridge freezer taking up 1.6m of space. integrate in to the island or long run of units and have more units in the freed space. I think once you lose the wall then you've got plenty of room for your island, in face plenty of room for everything, just get a good kitchen designer on the case. Maybe consider some irregular shapes if you can utilise the fireplace area? I'm no kitchen designer, but those qualified i've seen come up with some amazing designs to unify odd spaces. !! Safe to say one thing though, i think it should be fairly easy to use more than the one wall. Good luck!...See Morenickiboz
