Girls bedroom - any ideas
Comments (11)Hi Susanna, That is a lovely room; I think you've done a great job... lucky girls! :)) A couple of suggestions though: firstly -wall colour. You should consider painting the ceiling in a different colour, as having the walls and ceiling painted in the same colour makes the room a rather undefined space and doesn't help with 'cosiness'. Here's some advice of some paint guru: " If you expect to paint your ceiling a colour, consider going a few shades lighter because ceilings tend to look darker. Some designers prefer a white ceiling. A decorator's white (not a stark white) will give you a sharp definitive line from painted walls and highlight whatever architecture you have. Others want the ceiling in the same colour family as the walls. If you paint the walls a rich colour and leave the ceiling white, it will do the opposite of what you want by calling attention to it. If your ceilings are above nine feet, go one shade darker than the wall colour. That will bring the ceiling "down" and make the room appear cosier. If the ceilings are nine feet or less, use a colour a shade or two lighter than the walls." Beside the ceiling, you could play with colour on the walls, either paint or wallpaper an accent wall. Or (like in the 3rd pic) wallpaper the ceiling, if you feel brave :)) Secondly, how about canopies on top of the girls' beds. That would give them a sense of privacy and make the beds feel more 'anchored'. And a colourful runner, either in front of the dressing table or in between the beds. http://www.amazon.co.uk/White-Bed-Canopy-With-Daisies/dp/B003Y5F0LC/ref=pd_sim_sbs_kh_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=0J08GVWBC1GQXX0E5QVZ And lastly, although the curtains look very much in keeping with the property, they don't really fit the room. Would you consider changing them? something more colourful and fun, maybe sheers or something coordinated with the canopies, if you go for them. Also, length wise, I'd go with longer curtains, down to the floor. I hope this helps. Good luck!...See MoreHelp with interior design bedroom please

Comments (10)Ok, this is a great space so easy to fix. People might give you specific advice but really it depends on your taste. There are 3 important things you are lacking that will fix your room - zoning, texture and lighting. zoning - if you can walk into a room and read it immediately it translate as boring. To fix this you need to draw the eye around the room. You can use furniture, art, points of interest to do this. Perhaps a cool chair outside the bathroom door or a chaise lounge. Perhaps a big banana plant or fiddle fig between your windows. Perhaps a huge piece of art above the bed. Perhaps some cool wallpaper art there (check out Curious Egg). A reading nook? How about filling that massive space between the end of your bed and wardrobes? You could put a huge pouffe, love seat or ottoman on a rug there so it looks a bit like a dressing room area with seating. Anthropologie do some great options. texture - you need a huge rug to go partially under your bed and soften the room. Try French connection home or la redoute for affordable options. Why not texturise the wall your bed is against. Do the whole wall or a textured headboard made of timber etc. Abigail ahern does some great, easy to assemble faux wall options. Again I would recommend plants. Not everyone likes these I need a bedroom but again Abigail ahern does some great fauxs. lighting - the room is very light and bright but at night it probably can look a bit stark or cold. I would definitely advocate some free standing lights. These should be near whatever zones you create. Certainly I would have some bedside lamps and maybe a taller freestanding lamp elsewhere. Rule of thumb in a room this size is at least 5 lamps or freestanding lighting units! finally, if you like neutrals and want to avoid colour, neutral colour through texture is a great solution. A beni oudain rug, a large sheepskin over the bottom of the bed, a large wicker chair. And of course, plants. good luck!...See More7 year old's bedroom
Comments (13)Wow, thanks for the replies! I've got a sample and it's definitely chartreuse. was wondering if a bright blue wall would look good (with the other 3 an off white). Or stick to a green feature wall with blue accents. These cushions were the inspiration... https://www.etsy.com/listing/479319593/scion-mr-fox-harlequin-pillows-65-30-cm?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=scion%20mr%20fox&ref=sr_gallery_35 although I love that map wall I'm not sure if she'l like it as much And I'm afraid it's a very firm NO to pink (I've just asked) Thanks again!...See MoreHeba Jamaa
