Long, dark bedroom hallway makeover.
Comments (39)Finally finished the hall and the transformation is complete. Kept the doors but painted the architrave and all other woodwork (Farrow & Ball Dimity Eggshell). Walls (F & B Joa's White Modern Emulsion) Carpet is sisal. Window shutters California Shutter Co. Wall up/down-lighters John Lewis, as are the ceramic radiator shelf lights, painted to match wall. LED Panel 'skylights' are magical. Wired to an external Dusk 2 Dawn sensor via a relay (To transpose output to Dawn 2 Dusk) they are activated by two occupancy sensors either end of the hallway and only operate during daylight hours, thus giving the very real effect that it's daylight flooding in. The wall lights are for night time and if it only needs to be subdued lighting, then the remote controlled shelf lights are used. The flickering flame wall sconces either side of the old loft door are for amusement at best, but look nice. Now to find some suitable wall decoration and also fit a curtain and tie-back at the mid-point. That will allow guests who use the end bedrooms some night time privacy when using the bathroom down there. Comments (31)I would recommend white painted walls. Add accessories that are colorful if you wish. You can change it anytime you want. Depending on the space, I would definitely add something like raw thick tree branch. You can then make some fairy doors on it in color. Interaction with a child making these doors :) I would also choose funky prints of animals over the decals. Or have some animal heads hung on the walls. Children loves cozy spaces canopy is the thin. I would recommend Numero 74. I love their range of colors and quality. Add some cool pillows. If you are into diy, make some. Paint on it, embroider, use different techniques to apply color and texture to the room. Have more than one lighting source: fairylights, floor lamp, etc. If you want something really cool: cover ceiling in polka dots. Don't paint it. You can cut out some cardpaper circles and stick it with blutack. Use different sizes one color rather than having different colors. Take it off when tired of it easily. Enjoy decorating the room :) V...See MoreSmall 3rd bedroom design help
Comments (15)So after much deliberation I decided to ditch any colour on the walls and keep it white. family opinions were that it looks larger white. I've switched some of my design from my other bedroom over and the room will now have an ivory carpet (being fitted today and never walked on again! Lol) and has a theme of black & white stripes with gold and yellow accents. Hopefully it will be striking enough for a white walled room. Once the bed is up this week I will post some photos!...See MoreBedroom refresh needed
Comments (8)Hi Caren, I think you could still get away with the Antique French theme in this room. I went with this image for inspiration and created a photoshopped room for you below. See below, i have chosen two dark wood side tables for you in an antique french style as well as an antique wooden trunk. You can easily find replicas like these on eBay and Gumtree at a reasonable price. I loved the idea of a paneled wall, if you're on a budget then half a wall will still give the same effect. For the actual bare walls I went with a warm mustard to compliment your bedspread, I think this colour gives a lovely warm ambience to the room. With regards to lighting, I think more traditional ceiling fittings such as this Chandelier With Leaf Droplets in brass work best. I have also chosen two Annecy Swing Arm Table Lamp's to add to the vintage feel, these are great as bedside lights as the swing arm can be adjusted for bed time reading/work. I hope this helps with your makeover.. Good Luck Please let me know if you have any questions Ashley @ Litecraft...See MoreGuigsART
