Colour mistake - how should we counteract?
Comments (5)Hi Sara, I think you are absolutely right- introducing some stronger colours and bolder accessories into your parent’s room will lift their scheme and create a more exciting sitting room for them to enjoy. The good news is that their neutral walls and furniture will provide a stunning backdrop to add some splashes of colour to. An accessory palette of greyed blue, soft green and touches of mustard will sit perfectly with the grey walls and sandy sofa, as well as bringing out the green in their curtains. I have found a couple of options that will work really well with their existing scheme and add pattern and interest to their room. I’ve also included some Dulux colour swatches which you can use as a guide when buying additional or alternative accessories. Try using a mix of plain and patterned cushions, complimented by a textured grey throw, to bring it all together. A green rug will introduce more colour, while gold and hand crafted ornaments will add a modern twist. I'm sure with these few tweaks, your parents room will now feel anything but dull. Good lucky Sara, and do let us know how you get on! Comments (5)Are you going for standard height worktops? If so, I think it will be fine as the units will be just over a 1/3 of the wall height (things on walls seem to work better when in 1/3s or 2/3rds rather than splitting a wall in half). I would either paint the walls and ceilings the same colour or just go a shade or 2 lighter on the ceiling than the walls so you're not creating contrast. I've found this kitchen which I'm guessing is a similar height https://www.houzz.co.uk/magazine/kitchen-tour-modern-rustic-style-in-a-country-cottage-kitchen-stsetivw-vs~87744878...See MoreWhat Flooring should we go for in our kitchen
Comments (10)I think it depends on the aspect and lighting levels of the room. If it's really light you can have anything, if it's North facing I would introduce warmth (wood or similar colour). It's personal taste but I'm not keen on timber effect tiles, maybe it's the gaps between them. There are so many amazing large format tiles now, look at Mandarin Stone....See MoreShould we change the colour of our front door?
