Does anyone have a contact in Brisbane who could quote on a concrete free pour retaining wall or even a rendered concrete block wall? i love this example that picks up the grain of the wood into the concrete

I think Jonathan may mean put a drainage trough in and drop the level of the driveway to a deeper slope so that the trough is below the DPC. If you look at the height of the DPC visible on the side wall, it's going to have to be quite a lot deeper. However, you will probably get away with no drainage trough as block pavers are supposed to be a porous material. I find the best source of local people for building projects such as this Yell. Have a look under your area or also take advice from people on your local Facebook pages which are always jam packed with names and number of people that have been used already and will come with good reviews. I'd go for a dark grey with an edge like this to compliment your front door.

Thanks for comments all. To answer some questions: 1) Fence on left is neighbours, we only own the slatted fence and gate, which are cedarwood (so would not want to paint/stain), 2) Door is composite (so again, wouldn't want to paint). As well as a sandy colour I did think of dark grey, so thanks for reinforcing that. the idea of a dark blue is interesting too...what about something like peignoir or setting plaster from F&B... neutral, warmish colour? bit weird?

Hi, I am new on here! But we recently removed our pond and old retaining wall with slope to build a higher retaining wall as part of our extension. Our new retaining wall runs along the width of the garden and we put in two levels of walls with flower beds in between- that gives more strength to the structure than a single wall with plants behind? We didn’t use a structural but a garden landscaper who worked with our builder. Hope this helps!

Well the walls have been repainted at last. And the winner was....................... F&B Cromarty! Second was Mizzle, but it looked a little too dark in my north facing room, but it was a close contender. Thank you all for your brilliant advice. We both love the colour, and you can see how different it is in various areas. E D - the sofas are now away from the walls and the castors are sitting on brass cups (the plastic ones shattered) and it has worked, they don’t move!
