Help! What colour should I paint my kitchen?
Comments (11)I must admit I am scratching my head a bit on this one - the two slightly different shades of cream don't make it easy! If everything wasn't split new, I think I would be recommending changing the tiles. I'm not a fan of painting tiles either, but I am really at a loss as to what to suggest. A teal perhaps or verdigris, but I think whatever colour you pick, the tile/cabinet combination may still feel a little unbalanced. Might be worth thinking what you can do to mask the tiles with nicely coloured appliances, possibly an accessory rail, fruit bowl, plants/herbs etc....See Moresizing for splitting a room into a bathroom & utility
Comments (21)Update:- I'm looking at whether we can move the wood burner so we could put the dining area where the lounge is, which would increase the bathroom/utility room inside the house by another 4'4 wide x 7'1 . Also means we don't have to build a side extension just for the extra porch etc thus saving us money! Fingers crossed it can work, but this is the space that we would have to play with to split the bathroom and utility now. I've allowed for more hallway space where it recesses to the right to accommodate coat/shoe storage How would you split this down now? The bathroom would have a nice outside window now so not as dark....See MoreHelp! small one up one down terraced cottage redesign
Comments (2)So if it were me I would want to know firstly what was possible and next think about finance. So check if there are listings or restrictions that make renovation slower or more complicated or even prohibit changes. I would want to know about the TPO and if protecting the tree makes any of your plan impossible. And I would want to know if there is extension possibility to link the house and outbuilding or to add a dormer to the outbuilding to increase head height upstairs. I would then want to think about finance- you mentioned the outbuilding providing an income - if there is any chance income might be low later then you need to satisfy yourself you will have sufficient money to replace the thatch when it becomes due and sufficient now to do the renovations. Separately I think the upstairs is big enough for a shower room and I would then consider if the downstairs bathroom could be a small shower/ laundry room....See MoreHelp with layout for London Edwardian Terrace full house remodal
Comments (6)Yeah sure, I doubt we'll do anything upstairs other than steal some space from the back bedroom to enlarge the bathroom and remove the bathroom / toilet partition. Our vision for upstairs would be to use the middle bedroom as closet space and master ensuite, back bedroom for office space, go into the roof for 2 additional bedrooms plus bathroom for kids but we won't be able to afford that at the moment....See MoreJohn Ipson
