How wide should base cabinet be?

If I am installing a 24in rev a shelf, does that mean that the wire shelf fits in a 24" base cabinet opening or does the cabinet need to be bigger?

Hi there. Completely agree with everyone, you should paint the cupboards. I really like the colours in this picture as I think that the slightly 'greyer' off white cupboards would tie in well with your beautiful grey tiles. You wouldn't necessarily have to go so light on your worktop as in this picture. The laminate you showed in your third picture is really nice, where is it from? Thanks Victoria. That's just what we're after and almost perfect... except it's 10cm too wide. I'm just not sure if there is any way round that, e.g. widening the cabinet frame with an extra slat of wood at the sides.... the doors will be made to measure so could cover all that, but I'm not sure how the hinges would work and I'd prefer it if they were functional...

Hi Ellie, looking at your plan, don't see any particular restrictions, so long as you avoid fouling on the door - beyond that, it is really down to personal preference. As a rough rule of thumb, we like to ensure there is minimally 90-100cm width of "walkway" anywhere in a kitchen, so would position your units and island to comfortably achieve at least that. As to further suggestions - why not consider either and angled or curved unit at the end of the run? It will make entering/exiting feel much roomier without giving up much storage space (if any). As a minimum, I'd look to round off the corner of the worktop to avoid creating a sharp corner that you would catch on when entering/exiting through the angled door. Hope that helps! Hey thanks for the feedback - the extractor is above the hob yes - its funny - after I took that pic I did go and check myself! It looks OK in real life too :) Thanks for the idea, I was thinking the same too. Yes the alarm sensor is moving across the room at some point. OnePlan- are you also suggesting we should place everything to the right, or keep the left one as-is? That beam actually ended up lower than we were expecting as we found out the ceiling above is partially made of concrete and was resting on the old wall that was there! Turned into a lot more work than was expected for the structural team! Thanks
