Kitchen wall tiles - tile to ceiling?
Rough layout of kitchen, I don't really like the splashback to stand out so much, so not really keen on the square just under the hood.
If we were to tile it would you go to each window, and to the ceiling, or do the whole back wall. I am thinking a white/off white metro tile.

8 years agolast modified: 8 years agoWe won't have upstands either. Our worktop is flush with the window cills so we will run the worktop straight out. I think up stands would spoil the look of it.

Comments (10)Hi Vicki, I would go for bigger tiles, ones that are 60 cm x 30 cm. If you use smaller tiles the outcome may look too busy with your chosen floor tiles. I also suggest choosing very light grey wall tiles, the colour of which matches to the grey background colour of the floor tiles. That would give you the industrial sort of vibe you are aiming to achive. Order different samples and see how the combinations look in your bathroom. Personally I think that the mix of the floor and those bevelled-type tiles would be a bit much for me, it might be better to go for ones that echo the same design as the floor but in a more subtle way. It might be a good idea to get some samples though of the ones you like and see if you can get a bit more of an idea of what it would look like in your space. These are some more toned down marble hexagon tiles. In this kitchen they used a similar shape tile on the backsplash but kept it plain. 8 years agoIf you don't like the splashback to stand out, you could get one which matches your wall. we just got a splashback from a company which colour matches any Dulux or Farrow and Ball paint (or RAL colour) so it matches perfectly the wall behind.

6 years agoIt depends on the tile you're getting. if you're getting the off white metro tiles probably better not to file fully but if you want something more colourful it might look better fully tiled. I did my kitchen with these colourful hexagon tiles two weeks ago, and they look great. Just like the photo on the website.
