What type of exterior trim?

What material did you use for the exterior trim? We are found an addition and using Hardie Board but the Azek trim our architect specified was too expensive.

This is a standard color hardiboard siding with L.P. smart trim for the trim around the windows, fascia, soffit, frieze board and columns.

Wow that's one impressive garden Jenny, especially by London standards! You are right, they take so much space- the foliage comes nearly 3m in- do you still get enough sunshine in your garden? I figured it'd be expensive to maintain, especially with the neighbour over the other side expecting us to pay for the lot, the previous owner apparently did so for 20odd years, while she kindly provided access. I can't help but think this is going to be more trouble than it's worth. We'll definitely investigate the root situation before any building work starts so will have to wait and see I guess- some of the builders that we have had on site did look somewhat concerned - never a good sign ha! X

A very handsome house! - It's not so much the roof you have to worry about matching colours to, it's the red brick, as not soo many go with that. It's a big area to be painted, so you have to be sure it's going to look right. I'd probably err on the side of not painting it anything other than white and changing the window colour instead. Google colour bonding - it colours UPVC windows pretty much any colour and is a fraction of the cost of replacing windows. The front of our house is 'tyrolene'd' but the rest is red brick. We went for a sage colour. I'd be inclined to stick with the white, or render the whole house and paint one colour with possibly a slight shade change for the darker at the bottom. The downpipes need addressing on the gutter as they're a messy set up and spoil the facade. Try using the Dulux Paint a room:- https://www.dulux.ca/diy/colour/colour-visualizer it's a handy tool!

Many thanks Daisy (and hubby!). It has been very difficult to photograph There seems to be a variety of different fungi/molds at play I different location around the wndow frame The one that concerns me most is hidden away, for the most part, in the corner under the window sill/trim. There’s some cubodial cracking on some of the wood up in the corner and there was a fruiting body which had a slightly ochre colour to it, with a whitish edge. It seems to be contained to just that area. Thanks once again!
