Bringing it all together

As far as I can see these are ox blood, red, black and a sort of parchment colour for the walls. The busyness seems to be about your displayed objects which seem to have arrived randomly rather than arranged. As proud owners of the trophies these could have their own display case. The book cases then could be for books, photos and medium sized treasures. If you don't have a full shelf of books an attractive bookend would keep them upright and look attractive. Try one third books one third photos and one third objects. The lovely lady needs to find a place to show off maybe on the middle shelf above TV, perhaps with some interesting cacti or aloe Vera. The rug is a bit small it could be bigger and maybe Persian carpet style. Lighting for reading and lighting for mood would help. Too any red cushions. More ox blood and red. White cushions don't look so interesting. It seems potentially an evening room for being cosy, watching TV and reading. A larger coffee table would look good and pull sofas away from walls a bit. If you are redecorating try making a mood board of your colours. Then you can tie it all together...See MoreHelp to make my new lounge cosy
Comments (7)I love your furniture! The couch, chair and ottoman look so cosy. I would add some textured throws to the couch and chair, and a couple more cushions. I'd also pull them away from the walls slightly, as this will actually make the space feel larger. The wall behind the couch is crying out for some art- it really depends on your taste and budget, but you could go with a couple of really large canvases, or a photo gallery with lots of mismatched frames? Just don't hang them too high! The lamp beside the armchair would be great standing on a side table, and I'd add another side table with a lamp beside the couch where the big box is. The room would definitely feel cosier with lamps on and the overhead lights off. For storage, I'd go for built in every time! I'm biased as I love my own built in shelves so much. They definitely make a room feel cosy and finished. I'd be tempted to build floor to ceiling on the tv wall, with shelves above and cupboards below. The only issue there I think is the height of the tv...could it be lowered? It seems uncomfortably high. If it can't be moved, then long low shelving would work better than a full height unit....See MoreHelp with bringing an open plan room together

You can buy extra curtain rings which will make a huge difference. I also thing a tie back hook on each curtain will tidy things up a bit If there is space. That wall is crying out for a nice bold colour on it and I think Inchyra Blue will do the trick. It is such a lovely teal-green-blue and will bring in another element to the room. I also like De Nimes. I also think a chocolate hue on the wall will tie in nicely with the taupe of your units, but may be a bit dark! A nice neutral rug in taupe or grey would finish the look. Comments (12)Hi, I don't think it necessarily needs more colour. But it does need more personality, which you can bring in with art and accessories. I like the basket, the buckets and the wooden beam over the fireplace. I'd keep to that style. It really goes well with the tartan cushions on your sofas. And a plant or two will bring more life into the room too. Maybe a bit of a nature theme, with textured vases and lamps and nature themed prints. In an ideal world, I'd remove the vertical blinds and the maybe the curtains too, and replace them with either semi transparant roller blinds or Roman blinds in a sort of textured linen look fabric or a faux silk perhaps. They would work too if you want to keep the curtains Something like these: https://www.blinds-2go.co.uk/roman-blinds/refine/grey-silver/pf-105 Dunelm has these for example: https://www.dunelm.com/product/dove-grey-daylight-roller-blind-1000149537...See MoreTiago Faria and Jane Considine Architects
