I thought that shed looked ideal plus you can do all sorts of things with them, add a window, add a log store to the side, and paint in any colour. Cheaper alternative for paving is gravel and like you said bark chippings, I find the crunch of gravel more satisfying to walk on tho.

Hmmmm how long is a piece of string? Can I suggest you get 2 or 3 landscaping companies in to quote? Go by recommendation if possible or have a look at the professionals page on Houzz. It cost me £3000 to remove old paving in my back garden, supply and lay new Indian sandstone paving and change a couple of fence panels.

Thanks both for your replies. I was thinking that since there will be a hedge right across in bed B, that C would ideally be for plants to give some variety. More hedge = more cutting too! I will check out Instant Hedge co for the front hedge. I can't have a wall doubling as a planter due to it being a conservation area. I wanted to maximise planted area so don't want to make A smaller... the cycle box will be a secure metal one and has end access so I don't think I need to make it smaller. I might put some wooden cladding on it and a planted roof over time but my first priority is getting the layout agreed for the landscapers. I like the idea of having a central shrub but don't want anything too tall. Do you think it would look good to fill A with gravel and have a say a 50cm perimeter with 3 beds set into it? central one for a big pot with shrub and other two for low plants. Or... a 50cm gravel perimeter with a single bed set into it. Big pot in middle and planted stuff around it. Actually, that second option is probably is better than 3 separate beds..

Yes mii2, the deck is built onto the few pavers that form the ramp up from the lower patio to the lawn. Not ideal but they match the pavers of the lower patio (and are concreted in) so we just decided to leave those be and begin the new path from the top of that section. I wanted gravel as I thought it would be easier to manage the upward slope of the lawn from there but Mr doesn't like the idea of it against the pavers of the ramp (potential for slippage and being transferred onto the lawn by little bare feet etc!) The only other solution I thought of was setts or something similar so they could rise with slope of the lawn? Not sure.
