Was the floor concrete or concrete effect tiles? If tiles, what is the brand? Thanks.

Hello,

The floor is a polished solid concrete floor with underfloor heating, cast on site and color decided after the contractor creates samples to match with the rest of the material palette

Hi there! It's always a little tricky to visualise without an image but if we break it down the colours you have to work with are: dark floorboards, grey patio slabs, dark brown and mid oak furniture, and a vanilla kitchen. There's quite a mix there and based on the furniture and dark oak floorboards, it seems like the space might have quite a traditional feel? With this in mind, I'd suggest a herringbone floor in your kitchen. A natural oak would work well with the vanilla kitchen units and furniture. Yet, a darker oak could blend nicely with your hallway boards. Or, there's the option of an ashen colour that would lend itself to your grey tiles outside. So, has the approach to your property changed at some point? Because I would expect your entrance hall and front door to be at the front and not at the back? Could you turn it around again? If not, maybe move the front door to what is now the kitchen, making the kitchen part entry hall and part utility (dividing wall). Then you could perhaps create one large kitchen/diner/family space from the current utility, office and family room. The current dining room could be an office? Obviously all depending on whether all that would be possible re: load bearing walls and all that.

“The GM saw this, apologized and said he would make it right.” If they’ve said they will make it right then my next step would be to arrange a sit down to walk and talk through the issues (make sure to document the issues before the review so you don’t forget any). Then set an agreed date that you expect the issues // snagging to be resolved and make sure to keep lines of communication open and regular contact while the work takes place. Most contractors are decent people and will work with you (within reason) to get a good finish to the work. One thing I’d advise is to make sure to document any and all communication (follow up phone calls / face-to-face with an email confirming everything you talked through), not that it will end bad but you need to build in a contingency plan which could result in small claims court, meaning you put yourself in the best position possible if you need to present a case.
