What sort of light would you use in this living room
Comments (14)Hi weezer16. I've had the same problem several times. If I were you I would keep to a fairly simple shape like a drum e.g http://www.pagazzi.com/shop-for-lighting/ceiling-lights/davis-extra-large-pendant-silver.html I can't tell from your photos whether a warmer colour would go better but the shape won't detract from the wall paper on the chimney Brest and ties in with the fairly simple mantle but a larger size will stop it blending into the background. Then you can add a bit more interest with your cabinet lighting etc....See MoreWhat would our 1930s terrace interiors have looked like?
Comments (12)We bought a 1930's house recently in west London. There were a number of styles prevalent during this time usually falling into 1 of 3 categories - art deco (the one everyone knows about), mock-tudorbeathen which as the name suggests has tudor beams, oak iron studded front doors and often oversized fireplaces too. Finally there were the modernist homes with a focus on modern materials (think lino, curved glass crittal windows and tubular steel frame chairs etc. For me however its some of the smaller architectural details that I love in 1930's houses - lead light windows (sometimes with stained glass), picture rails in every room, 1 over 3 panel doors with high bakelite or brass knob handles and best of all original herringbone parquet floors! These are the things I've chosen to focus on in our house without going all out 1930's! Also as ASVInteriors mentioned there is also an element of arts and crafts to some of the 1930's homes which can often be seen in pretty entranceway doors/windows, quality inset kitchen cabinet doors/drawers, panelled cupboards and sometimes board and batten type hallways. I found the original brochure with illustrations for the homes built local to us from when they were first constructed which gives a great idea of what the interiors would have been like originally. Hope this helps!...See MoreTransform my outdoor terrace to an extra living space.
Comments (2)Some kind of terrace roof will allow you to use the space through more of the year. Umbris patio/terrace roofs have automated louvres in the roof so that you can allow sunlight to bath the terrace when nice weather. when it is raining the louvres close flat to create a fully watertight terrace cover (important in UK to use an outdoor space for more than a few months of the year). Integrate lighting, heating and external audio systems into the terrace roof structure for a true 'extra living space' www.umbris.uk | info@umbris.uk | 01494 722 880...See MoreTerrace house hallway. Using Dulux Absolute White plus Atoll colour?
Comments (65)I have these in a couple of the bedrooms to hang bathrobes and such on. They come in black or in white (which I would do on the White door). I love them and think you could probably do two on the door at slightly different heights. Removing the handle and painting the door white, gloss or semi-gloss, whatever you prefer and use in the rest of the home on the woodwork is a good idea. http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/small-storage-organisers/hooks-hangers/tjusig-hanger-black-art-80291707/...See Moreteenytinyhouse
