Ceramic wood look flooring in cottage sitting room in the UK

I need to move from carpet to hard durable flooring in my main living room (dogs) I am looking at different options and I wonder how well Ceramic wood look tiles would work. I have them in kitchen utility and conservatory. I was considering high quality laminate planks but there may be issues with the floor. Any thoughts on how acceptable this might be - is it to wacky for the UK when not linked to a kitchen or patio?

Thank u all for the wonderful suggestions. You r all amazing& really helping me. This curtain choosing is tough but i have it down to 2- see attached.want a wow factor in the room and something that will last a long time So for pic 1 - thinking of curtains in the pink thistle both ends of the room with blinds in the light grey material either side of the fireplace trimmed with a pink,green border (border colours same as curtains)? Pic 2- all 3 small windows in blinds made with the large pink fabric. Curtains for the french doors in the plain grey material for the bottom 3/4 bordered with the larger pink trim on the top so it ties in with the blinds? We just repainted the room a few wks ago from a grey to thr cream that is on it so i dont think we have the time for a 3rd repaint

Marble would still work well in all those areas - luxurious and dramatic! A couple of points to take care with: - Take care if you're option for high gloss, as they can be slippery when wet - If you're opting for a very "white" marble (Carrara or some such), be prepared for it to show every dirty mark and need regular cleaning. If your lifestye can cope with this great - if you have three labrodors and live in a pair of Hunter wellies, I'd urge caution....

Thanks Colour Happy. Plasterer has been in already but only plastered where needed so I'm assuming that means we don't need to plaster behind wall paper (some of which had to be removed for the rewiring) and Painter seems happy enough to do remainder of filling/smoothing walls but thanks for the tip, I'll definitely check again with them. Re sisal, no dogs but small kids at home so need to stick to softer/more standard carpet!
