Slim wall for gas fire in new extension - dilemma

Half way through build, removed conservatory and now have in place for a 3 metre extension along the house with internal walls taken out for open living, new kitchen due 8th August. The external wall between Windows and French doors is only 600 wide and I have found a slim fire to run down the centre. My dilemma is the finish for the wall. A friend suggested thin slate tiles or similar, but I cannot visualise this, we will need a chimney breast to for the fire due to depth, I do not want a hearth, more a modern look, the false chimney breast will run up to the sloped ceiling. Any ideas, web links for pics. Would be really helpful.
