what curtains colour and fabric?

excuse the cat scratchy post. lampshades will get recovered. have just repapered chimney breast in laura Ashley jossette white. keeping wall deluxe Egyptian cotton. x

Are you keen to have neutral curtains or something which is brighter?
The Laura Ashley Bacall fabric drapes beautifully and there is a good choice of colours.

Ive had a look at website. thank you so much I didn't realise laura Ashley did plain coloured linen mix fabric x thank you

I think pale curtains to match your walls, or near enough, would look good. I find dark curtains depressing, especially when they’re closed. I would introduce more colour with artwork, but the restful pale grey is great and is very stylish, so I think colour should be subtle like a soft blue or teal or blush pink. Such a lovely room.

@Maths wife - thanks for the mock up. Really helpful. @Beano - completely agree re. radiators. Just ran out of steam on the painting front. They will get done at some point this month .... Also agree re. the rug. The problem I have is that a £55 pot of paint to 'freshen up the lounge' is suddenly becoming rather more expensive - new curtains (fair enough, needed them anyway but still wasn't quite prepared for the John Lewis quote), new snuggler (again, probably needed but the quote for recovering it works out nearly the same as buying a new one - ouch!) and also now a new rug (when I still like the current one, just not maybe in the new lounge). Lets hear it for the July sales ....

Best fabric for cafe curtains in bedroom?

I’ve struggled to find cafe curtains for the UK, but found these voile cafe curtains in the US, so could be copied? Another option is privacy film which you just place on the lower half of the windows. These two examples are from Etsy, but there are loads of suppliers online.

I think soft draped curtains (lined but not interlined) with a soft pencil pleat heading would look perfect in your space, pretty much the pics above.

You could add colour with rug/cushions/lamp shades if you wanted more variation.

Hi Katrina, we think a plain silk in a soft neutral colour would be perfect to complement the shine of the wallpaper and the chandelier glass droplets. This would create a very feminine boudoir atmosphere. This picture shows silk curtains in our Nepal Silk fabric, you would probably choose a shade closer to silver or white to work in your colour scheme. The Pret A Vivre team
