Hi All - I am looking for some help and design ideas for my new kitchen. I have a budget of up to £25,000 for everything and looking for design ideas/quotes. See the below design and what my requirements are. Please help :-) 1. Room 3 is the utility room and no work is needed there. 2. Room 4 is actually a cupboard where the boiler is stored. 3. Room 5 is just an under stair cupboard with nothing in. 4. Room 4 is the area that I need help with. The main part of the kitchen. Quite simply i would rather not have any wall units, but open to all ideas (I am not very creative at all!!). All the other half has requested is two single ovens and an american style fridge/freezer. Something definite that we require is seating for 5. This can be in the form of a breakfast bar type or more traditional dining table or both !!! 5. I am looking for something out of the box and not the standard u shape kitchen if possible. I have tried wickes/bnq and they seem to follow a simple template with no real thought about design and what we want as a family. Hello Zhanar, From the bottom pic it looks as though you have cabinets on the end wall to the left of the window? If so consider just a free space there as I can see a kettle.. If not cupboard but necessary then box in and paint to blend with wall colour.. Have you considered the idea of an island and dining arrangement. Something combining the two and at split level heights to create interest.. Also perhaps look at differing extractor options that blend with overhead cabinets or perhaps end that run with the extractor rather than add two more cupboards. Have you thought about materials... Colours, fittings, worktop and appliances you want. It's a preference but straight edges are quite sophisticated on the island as opposed to curved corners. Also consider whether you need an overhang on the island and seating? With dining table in close proximity it may well work without this element. The island could then possibly house wine cooler or other useful appliance. Consider too a hole on the worktop for waste.. A bin underneath in a cupboard makes food preparation a breeze.. If you were to incorporate a range oven you could situate the fridge freezer centrally within that wall of double height cabinetry. I don't think the style is wrong but might benefit from a more centralised placement where the ff door is further away from the door. A pull out larder could also be something to consider as the aesthetic suggests modern rather than a traditional kitchen. Lastly look at lighting what and where... Perhaps functional for island and something more decorative for dining table. :))

It kind of looks unfinished without the wall units IMO so I would keep them. Personally with a modern kitchen I’m not keen on extractors behind doors but that might just be the design and you’re having a chimney as on the amended plan. The only thing I would say is having had a boiling water tap fitted a couple of months ago in my kitchen you only get to use half of the cupboard space underneath because of the filter and tank so don’t expect to store a huge amount in this unit. I’ve had to offload half of mine into another cupboard. Thankfully I had the space.
