Teenage bedroom

I'm rearranging my 13 year old daughters bedroom. I don't want to change the decoration but she would like to add a desk and change her single bed for a double. The designs bellow are what her room currently looks like. Could I please have some suggestions on how I could rearrange her bedroom with these added bits of furniture?

Might be easier if you put some sizes in - ie of the furniture and of the room and window heights etc - sometimes in an L shape like this it's possible to create a walk through dressing room /study area, and then access the sleeping area by using some of the tall furniture as a room divider ... Be sure to fix any freestanding tall pieces securely to the floor and ceiling too though !!!

I think option 1 makes more sense. My only consideration would be where the door of bedroom 2 is located. I would probably change it and move it along the wall to be closer to the master bedroom door, in effect making the 2 children rooms exactly identical. My reasoning for this is that at the moment bedroom 2 bed is taking a huge amont of space as placed in the middle and doesn’t give you an opportunity to put a single bed against a wall to gain more floor space. And it is strange to have to walk around the bed to access the wardrobe. Hope that makes sense :)

@Rozanne K, it's great your son doesn't bother, he trusts you. But ask him for the final word anyway. Colours influence our moods and feelings, it's a good read. For a 13, if you really love and want dark colour for his bedroom then we would recommend using the bold on/as a feature wall. Use a colour to influence his mood. Pick up the right wall though, so he sees the colour and that it has some light in. Paint other walls and ceiling in another complimentary colour, brighter than darker. No other than a mother knows his son, you know what he likes, his persona. Use this knowledge. Good luck, Paintforme

I popped into the new Paint Store on the way home - it’s huge and has all the high end ranges in stock including wooden samples of all their colours. It was dark when I left (Could have spent another hour in there) but managed to limit myself to 4 colours - Pale powder, Skylight, Teresa’s Green and LG Salix.! I also asked for the JohnStones paint card - I was in the wrong store! Their shop was next door and Crown colour centre was next to that. Totally missed those two - I was in Nicholls and Clarke paint centre! Now it’s too dark to see how the samples look. Thsnks for all your help today.
