What can I use for a solid surface on top of our bath?

We're renovating our bathroom and the location where we are fitting our bath will mean that there will be silly gaps, so I would like to place a solid surface on top of the bath, a bit like a corian kitchen worktop.
Has anyone ever done this? Or do you have some suggestions, pros and cons, or what material/company we could use?
Below are some rough 3D models of the bathroom.
