Please help me improve our ensuite bathroom...
Comments (17)Thank you so much everyone for taking the time to comment. It's really tricky taking good photos as the space is so tight, but I will attach another photo and sketch to give a better idea of the space. Daisy- the photo was stretched, I didn't realise my portrait photo would be converted to landscape. So the sink is just set into a 50cm wide unit. I think the idea of moving the sink to the current bidet position is a good one, although as you'll see from the sketch there's very little wall on the left of the window so not much space for a mirror in front of the sink. Carolina- I love that photo! The bit I can't quite get is how the shower door would work if the shower head remained on the right (all the shower controls/electrics are on the other side of the wall, taking up space in a wardrobe!!) and the sink was on the left. whizzywig- the door opens out (my sketch should show it now) and the photo was taken from outside the door. I think the distance you asked for is 74cm. And yes, we queried the plumbing for a wc when we bought the house, but unfortunately it's not there - they said they didn't like the idea of a loo near their bed!!!...See MoreNew En suite In Existing Room
Comments (8)Definitely need a plan of where this is in relation to the whole room. I see that the doorway can be moved. I'm confused as to the use of the Handrail, as maybe it's being misnamed? A handrail would be to assist someone in getting on to the toilet, out of a bath etc, but you mention that's moveable, so maybe you don't mean handrail. The shower doesn't necessarily need to go on the outside wall as it's only water waste like the sink. The toilet is the immoveable object as it has to connect to the soil pipe on the outside. It is possible to put the toilet on the wall to the right ( presumably ) as you can vent from the back of the toilet on a dog leg and go out of the back wall. You just box the pipes in. This being possible and the door being moveable would then lend to a nice wallk in shower to the right behind a false wall, separating it from the toilet. This way, when you walk in you can't even see the toilet and it's private. You also get a nice lot of room when you step out of the shower in front of you. I haven't put in a handrail yet as it needs clarifying what you want it for. The towel radiator is adjacent to the vanity and sink. I put a large vanity 900mm x 450mm for point of reference - so obviously you can put smaller....See MoreHow best to arrange this bathroom and ensuite?
Comments (3)Hi guys, Ive now got the floorplan as: The grey block is an L shaped bath which is 850 at its widest point. This leaves 1050 for toilet and basin. Is that enough without it feeling cramped? (enough clearance around the toilet and basin). Theres going to be a shower screen on the bath, so I dont want to be hitting my elbow against that or the sink. Or would I be better having a right hand L bath? But this leaves slightly less floor space. This is meant to be a family bathroom serving 4 beds so I dont want it feeling cramped or having a small basin....See MoreEn-Suite sizing/layout help
Comments (78)Just thought I would update my post as the en suite is *almost finished. Only take 6 months (rolls eyes) and still a bit of cladding above the WC to finish and on the sink unit (same walnut cladding on the front) and of course I have to have a shower screen designed as it won’t take a standard shower door. Such fun. Will take some other angle pics over the weekend once it’s all tidied up and cleaned. Just struggling now with storage!! Only got a shallow space under the sink (25cm deep- 26cm at most) to put some drawers but I can’t find any. Got space on the wc side for a little bench seat with storage under so trying to work out the best colour/style that’s not too twee....See Morelottiefenwick
