Lounge Wall Cole and Son decoration dilemma!

Can anyone help me with decor ideas for my large lounge wall which has been papered with Cole and Son "salvage" wallpaper which has a "vintage, tarnished metal effect of rusting metal colours in a manner reminiscent of stripped walls and old paint work" (their write up, not mine!)It is in the grey and gold colourway which complements my caramel sofa. I have looked everywhere on line to see if I can find some design inspiration for art work/pictures/ mirrors to work well with this paper but can't find anything!

Does anyone have this wallpaper and what would sit well on it? If I had some art work should I consider 'matching' the colours and then what sort of frame would work?

I also have another picture up on another wall - would I need to consider this as well?

Perhaps I should have thought about this before papering the wall, but I fell in love with the paper!

Any ideas very much appreciated!

Great paper! it has industrial feel to it. i can't think of any art to go on it. it would complement other objects and decor in the room. Black and white art prints. Rustic / mechanical objects. Vintage wall lights, rugs, photos, post photocards, ect. Strange and quirky wall decor. Do you have any pictures of the room?

Hi. What's the style of the room? Cole and son picture a lot of their papers with old master style portraits which would work. I've also attached a link to ibride trays which I've seen used as wall art a few times. You could also look at prints of old maps, architectural prints etc. An industrial style window mirror could also work. It really depends on the room but yes i would have the other art complement in some way

Mine was around the same price but came as unassembled which I'm guessing yours might too so you will have to put it together. It's a bit like a jigsaw puzzle but once you get into the swing of it it's easy. Son had a smaller similar one from Next as a centre light and also 2 wall lights and I was honoured with the job of assembling that too. Mine has a hand remote (which we don't bother with) too. It also changes colour which I didn't realise when I ordered it online but we just have it switched to a plain colour.

Hi, In terms of colour matching, you could just go to a diy store who can colour match the shades of the wallpaper for you. Homebase, b and q and respective trade stores offer this service. What sort of room will you be using this paper for?

design dilemma: carve out a second bedroom without (re)moving walls

I think if you research resale values you will find adding an extra bedroom will add value but how much will depend on the compromises made. Personally I think that the chimney dividing the second bedroom is too big a compromise and would be asking for estate agents if you will recoup your renovation budget if the bedroom is divided. If it were me I would build a case to present to the freeholder: Get your structural engineer to write a letter that explains that a building that has had underpinning now has stronger foundations than the original and should not be a concern. The letter should also mention that steel is stronger than the original brick and your work is covered by insurance. You should also get something in writing from your preferred builder that explains the timescales - knocking out a wall and putting in a steel can be done much more quickly than people think. It sounds like you could also help your case by agreeing to inform the buildings insurers, paying any required extra premiums, offer an incentive that you could organise (although not necessarily pay for) additional building repairs while the builders are in. Separately I would not consider living through the work- this property is not big enough to find somewhere to escape to. You should move your furniture out and give your builders the freedom to get it done quickly- this will likely make it cheaper and offset the costs of moving out

I think the paper is lovely - could you not treat it as artwork in it's own right and just enjoy looking at it - a picture may detract from the design and look too "busy" - if you do want something, why not try a round gilt mirror ?
