Awkward living room lay out. Long room with two doors!
Comments (2)I have Windows floor to ceiling both ends of my lounge and only one complete empty wall the opposite wall ,has large double doors with small walls each side. I find small pieces of furniture more suited to keep the feeling of light and space. I purchase a large sofa with a chaise end totally took up to much space and looked awful....See Moreliving room lay out
Comments (1)Hi - in answer to the question fireplace or not, I would say keep. It is a focal point of the room. You might like to consider updating the fire itself to a more modern design. Re layout, not knowing the proportions of the room these are guesses, but I would move the bigger sofa (with the chaise longue portion) to the wall opposite the window and put the smaller sofa on the wall opposite the fireplace. This would balance the room a bit more (based on your photos) and also free up the "virtual" corridor that exists between front door and next room. Furthermore, if the room size allows it, you might like to consider keeping the smaller sofa away from the wall, placing it further into the room. But this is entirely dependent upon the size of the room. Hope this helps. Good luck....See MoreMismatch living room furniture advice please!
Comments (6)Hi minnie101. Thank you. No they don't need a rising chair. It's just I don't think they ever had one so would like it in the new home. Chair lifts are not possible either as they won't like that and currently the mobility is not that bad. The sofa bed is for the occasional night which will be more frequent than the use it gets when people have guests over. I did look at the scandi chair and liked the look but it's not what they want unfortunately. Thank you though. I'll have to just try and find some sets that will work together. Sofa beds are hard to find as most have a very thin 6mm mattress. There is the Mayne corner sofa from made.com which has a good bed but it doesn't look so great esp in the customer pics on their website. Has anyone had experience of this sofa? Thanks...See MoreAdvice on Living Room Lay-out
Comments (10)You able to post other walls in the room to get better idea of room layout ? The tv istoo big for narrow chimney breast and will look odd. Don’t take this wrong way but the shelves you had done look too thin seems like the bowing a bit due to amount of things on them carepenter should have made them alot more chunky to give it that modern look or put a thick trim on front of each shelf to give it that illusion also would work nice with the cabinets below you have . I would put a fake fireplace. With nice round mirror and if possible move the tv to one of the other walls in the room colour wise I either paint all walls pure white or nice soft grey like cloud burst By crown or dulux or elephants breath. white personally will just lighten up the whole room giving it contemporary look. White is very underrated but has a whole lot of colour spectrum with in it creating different shades with room light...See Moreclairef09
