Can I paint the outside of my new front door (Kelly Moore-Navy Damask) and stain the inside of it (caramel brown)?

yup! Here's the inside of our front door

and even though this post is about Christmas wreaths on the door, you can seethe outside color of our front door

Yes, as long as your door isn't fiberglass or steel "split coat" is the term used.

Hi. I like the idea of the navy or inky blues such as farrow and ball railings or Hague blue and Little Greene also have a couple of good ones. The brass I think works well with dark shades. Various shades of green would also work. It looks as if you'd need to lower it but have you thought about tiling the step for interest? It also looks as if the bins would fit in the drive so I'd either plant all the front or add a couple of pots either side of the door which will look more welcoming and soften the front

I don’t think you should be restricted by the colour of the stained glass. What colours have you painted the interior of your home? What is your favourite colour? The front door should reflect your personality and you will then love walking up to it every day. We have an Edwardian stained glass front door with red , blue, yellow, greens and pink glass in. The door is painted F&B railings because it’s one of my favourite colours. My kitchen island unit is painted the same colour. Good luck deciding- don’t go for yellow though if you don’t like it straight away!

If you look at this site you can enter your RAL colour and see what F&B similar colours come up. RAL 9001 is similar to Clunch which I have with grey green windows and red brick. It also depends on the paving you have and roof tiles etc. Ignore the hideous front door, it is being replaced. https://www.e-paint.co.uk/Colour_alternatives.asp

There's probably a lot of houses nearby that have similar colours in the brick and similar doorways so wander around and see if any inspire you. I like a muted mid-green against the brick. Blues (and teals) also look good with the orange brick. You've got to make sure the colour isn't too 'clean' though (so not a clean baby blue) as the render and brick are both 'dirty'/muted colours. I'd prefer to see something either paler or more colourful - but nothing too dark as it just turns the space into a black hole (like your neighbours). Another option is to paint the woodwork around the door a pale neutral and then just paint the actual door the colour - it'll stick out more that way rather than blend into the background. I agree with you on the black windowsills - they are making the windows appear smaller and look like bags under the eyes of the house. It does tie in the black from the woodwork on the gable end though and keeps it in keeping with the neighbours - would you consider painting all the woodwork on the front of the house?
