Comments (102)I'm feeling pleased to say I have now be later in life been enjoying some of the things I'd love to have, for some time so they don't count for my 'one thing I'm still hoping for..' I love my upmarket induction hob with timer that saves my food from my memory when distracted by a phone call for a chat-length of time; no day goes by without the thrill of pulling open my kitchen's larder cupboard where the contents are so visible and high space is utilised. I agree with ? about having a bidet and have just had one installed and another wish - a walk-in shower Yeah!...See MoreWhere would you have your dream holiday home?
Comments (67)Kalami in North East Corfu. Beautiful clear blue sea, bleached pebble beach dotted with driftwood overlooked by hills lined with ancient olive and pine trees. A couple of fabulous tavernas on the beach and a water taxi every evening to take you to one of the superb tavernas on the beach (literally) on Agni bay or Agios Stefanos. Grilled calamari, octopus stifado or king crab linguini eaten on a jetty overlooking the bay and the fishing boats - accompanied by a glass of excellent Corfiot wine. No large hotels, nightclubs or English pubs. Unspoilt just like the Greek islands used to be!...See MoreWould you rather live in a one or multi-storey home ?
Comments (11)For many years my partner and lived in an apartment in Central London; and a couple of years ago when we started house-hunting we discovered - unsurprisingly - that in houses with stairs and a decent sized landing, a significant percentage of living space was - in our view - wasted. Yes, some people like the drama of an open staircase - but I'd rather use the upstairs space as a study and the downstairs as an extension to the kitchen. And besides - vacuuming stairs is a pain. Eventually we bought a bungalow - and touch wood, haven't looked back. One friend quipped that we'd bought a flat with a garden but without upstairs neighbours; while for us there's an easy progression of rooms leading into rooms - the flow from kitchen to dining to drawing room makes for relaxed entertaining, and the early morning amble from bedroom to coffee machine can happily be made in the dark. For some, bungalow living occurs when stairs become a problem - but for us, it was always about space and style....See MoreWould you have a fireplace in your dream home?
Comments (21)I love open fires, fireplaces and stoves. I miss my old cottage that had the coal-fired range in the kitchen, open fire in the sitting room and the luxury of an open fire in the bedroom. Ok it had no central heating and the reality would see me living in the kitchen in the winter months and running upstairs with a shovel full of burning coals from the kitchen stove to start the fire in my bedroom before bedtime. The bio fires look quite tempting where it's more something to look at than a heat source. Watching flames is very theraputic, dream house would have fireplace/stove in living rooms, bedroom and bathroom....See MoreJuliet Docherty
