selected the wrong floor tiles!!

so im tiling my apartment and wanted to go for a minimalist and contemperory look amd sort of had the whole idea in mind but unfortunately selected the wrong kind of tiles. it goes completely against whag i had in mind! it looked good when i saw it in the shop but after the floor was done it really doesnt look that nice. anyway its too late to do anything now so im gonna have to adjust the decor to suit the tiles.
so my question is, what kinda decor would most suit this floor? decor meaning sofas, wing chairs, other furniture, dining table, blinds, curtains?
really need help on this cos im lost!

Comments (8)I agree with Matthew, a professional would realise sooner his mistake and correct it straight away. If he doesn't want to pay, just remind him he has insurance, otherwise what is the point of having it! I could have suggested to use Porcelain tiles which we supply they are 4 mm thick so very thin tiles, they would still conduct heat etc........, but there is no point adding to someone mistake trying to rectify it. Best way is always to do it right as it should has been done in the first place. just one more thing make sure that whoever does the tiling will agree on whatever surface he will tile onto, so the tiler everything first so he want have any complaints later....See MoreHelp!!! Comments (39)Jonathandb1972, I was thinking of going with a grout that is the same colour or lighter than the grey tile. The hex will be grouted in a medium grey. This has already been done in the loo (the hex) and looks great. Neither are grouted in the above picture. Do you think there will still be issues with where the grout lines are if they are the same or lighter than the tile? Also, where the hex tile in the shower meets the grey tile will mainly be covered by the shower's profile. However, the shower only goes up to about 2m, so there will still be a visible "meeting" of tiles above that. My builder is a little concerned about how this will look as he will have to cut small pieces of tile to fill up the edge, which may stain once they start grouting. Comments (12)Hi Felicia, sorry to hear that this has happened to you too. It sounds like you have had a similar floor to us - was yours a poured concrete floor i.e. you had an 8-10mm topping poured on top of a screed? Do you know what make of material was used? So, over a year on from my initial post, we ended up having to pull the floor up and get it re-done by someone who knew what they were doing. This time, we ended up going for a solid slab of concrete which was polished up and looks great (but it cost a hell of a lot more!). The bubbles would have created problems outside in terms of water getting in, freezing, expanding and then cracking the concrete over time. But, when I was looking for a new contractor to re-do the floor (we didn’t pay the other guy anything), one of the contractors who was excellent stated that they could have repaired the floor with all of the bubbles. Essentially, the floor hadn’t been primed properly and this sort of thing can apparently happen if there are big differences between the substrate and air temperatures. They mentioned that there was a way to grind down a layer and fill in the holes so I wouldn’t despair just yet. It is a shame that your contractor is being unhelpful - ours was too. I can only suggest trying to call around some other contractors to see what can be done in the first instance. Alternatively, a lot of resin floors can now give a very similar effect to polished concrete but the cost is not cheap. 7 years agolast modified: 7 years agoTotally agree with Evolve Interior designs, lovely clean lines, white overall with maybe a little hint of colour somewhere as an accent colour ( Orange, LIme? ) It'll look fabulous. You can also add plain rugs.
