Quartz worktop installation time

Hi,
Does anyone know how long it actually takes to install a quartz worktop?

We have an island (3m x 1.1m), a sink run (2.8m with upstand) and a window sill.

We have quartz and the actually installation was about 45 mins- 1 hour. Our kitchen would be a similar size to what you have said. Lead time for delivery was about 10 days though. And they only measure for it once the kitchen is actually fitted, so that they get it accurate.

We have had the template done already and the worktop is arriving on Thursday for installation.
I just needed to know how long it takes because I need to coordinate tilers and electricians etc for the same day!

You could ask about percentage of quartz in the worktop to make sure you are buying a good quality quartz. Plus what guarantee to they offer. We use a great deal of Teltos quartz which comes with a 15 year guarantee.

I use ecover multiaction spray once a week on mine and it’s fine, have been using it for about 2 years. The rest of the week I just use Ecloth dishcloths with water only. If it gets stained which is rare (wet teabags and curry can be problematic) I spray dettol surface cleaner on the stain leave for a few minutes then rub away. I’ve had white quartz worktops for 12 years now and not had any issue with damage/staining. They are pretty robust, I’m not careful with mine at all!

There are alternatives that are better such as Neolith and Porcelanosa. Both of those you can stand hot pans on. Quartz you can’t and some spice spillages also stain it.

Its hard to tell because of the shadow that the upstand is casting. There should be more quartz at the back to allow for the tap. Mine is in the middle between the upstand and the sink. The quartz running past at the front is narrower. The tap is too close to the upstand. Was the quartz templated properly? Undermount sinks are normally fixed with their lip resting on a batten frame. Was this slightly off centre? It's not correct. I wouldn't accept this, its an expensive mistake.

For what it's worth spare a thought for the tradesmen here. Unless your worktop installation is the first in the day, the fitters will not know an exact start time as they won't know exactly how long the previous job will take nor the traffic. Be prepared for a twitchy tiler who is waiting for the worktop to be finished as he won't be able to start until it's installed and an electrician who will be in the way and they will be in the way of him! Sounds like there will be some dancing around each other, lots of downing tools and frustrated workman unable to have a free run at their job!

The actual fitting is not a long job and even with complications can be done in a day. However it can take up to four weeks to template it and have it made, as you probably already know. I hope everything goes smoothly for you!
