New kitchen with matt white and black units from Alno. Worktops were Corian Warm Grey with shark nose front. Kitchen also benefits from a larder to the rear with concrete worktops. See all the photos at :

Looking very nice and neat. Are the end panels also done in Corian or is it furniture paneling?

Carolina is correct here with recommending a Victorian Floor Tile or Quarry tile. They do come in 100x100mm approx and are in a matt finish. A Kitchen we designed and fitted summer last year. The customer opted for a concrete kitchen island and matt black glass doors, This is a Rational Kitchen, Made in Germany. All appliances are top of the range Siemens and a Franke hot tap. Pictures does not do any justice to this simple contemporary elegant kitchen. (Sorry, we dont have any before pics as this was a full extension built)

White. Matt or shiny, it’s so much easier to clean. If your hubby prefers the black, tell him he’s responsible for keeping it good! Any dark colour in any finish is quite difficult, I think. I had a matt black floor tile in my last house—much harder to clean than the white tiles on the same floor (chequered layout). My parents had a black laminate worktop at their last house—or maybe it was resin—and it was a nightmare to keep looking nice. Incidentally, my own worktop top is white composite laminate—ie, 6mm of composite over a chipboard core—and while it can be polished to a high shine, I have chosen not to do so. It’s a doddle to keep clean. Maybe a grey as above might be a compromise for you?

Isidora, the bulk go the kitchen installation was completed in 3 days. Thereafter the worktops were templates and fitted the following week, and following that, glass splashbacks.
