Advise on kitchen splashback / tiles please
Comments (28)Pity you have decided against glass in favour of tiles. We have just done our kitchen and I wanted an easy-to-clean surface for the splash back, so the rough surface of grouting around tiles, and also the indentations on some patterned tiles (which collect grease and grime) ruled them out for me! I went for glass, which the manufacturers matched exactly to the duck egg paint colour on the other walls (just gave them a product code of the paint), and although the initial outlay for the glass was expensive, the surface is so brilliant to keep clean and it looks fab as well. I would definitely recommend, and you could match it to, say, your lovely pink/purple ceiling lights ......See MoreMetro White Tiles???
Comments (11)These have the bumpy finish as in your picture and are on offer at the moment: https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/catrangetiles/brick-metro-tiles/metro-bumpy-tiles/metro-bumpy-gloss-white-tile/19112/ I've ordered from this site before and very good service....See MoreTiles, splashback, or another solution to tiling under a sloping sill?
Comments (18)The tiles will be covering the areas coloured light blue on this plan (the white and dark blue will be covered with panelling). Have narrowed it down to three tiles which will fit without too much faffing/cutting: Lucy - a 15x15 tile, though not sure if I should stick with one colour or do some kind of mix with the blues and white. https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/bathroom-tiles/lucy-tiles Rhian - a 10x30 tile. Again, it comes in a selection of blues and grays so I don't have to stick to the one colour. https://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/rhian-30x10-tiles?product_colour=14%2C22#scroll-js Illumina - a 7.5x30 tile which also comes in blues and a gray. https://www.tonsoftiles.co.uk/illumina-wall-tiles/colour/blue-grey.html My current favourite is the Illumina as the finish looks lovely. I would have to apply the tiles vertically along the worktop by the sink though, as trimming 1-2cm off several 7.5 width tiles sounds like a recipe for lots of broken bits... Any thoughts on tile selection/orientation please? Had a play in Paint at some possibles....See MoreUpdating a small, white-tiled bathroom and colour advice please.
Comments (15)Sanitary ware. I'm having a crisis of decision making. I bought a new sink and vanity from IKEA: https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/washstands-taps/wash-stands/fullen-t%C3%A4lleviken-wash-basin-cabinet-white-spr-39891444/ However, it's occurred to me since that it'll take up too much of the room/floorspace, especially as the sink faces you as you walk in. I've been looking at other designs, and the wall-hung sink with a nicer-looking chrome waste could be a much better option. Added to this, if I'm tiling the floor, I'll probably need to buy a new loo, and IKEA doesn't do matching loos. Therefore...where can I buy a basic loo/basin package? What's the difference between a 'toilet and basin' and a 'cloakroom suite'? Should I go for one or two tap holes? Am I wasting my money? Should I just update the taps on the existing sink and tile-box in the waste?...See MoreVictoria
