Living Room Advice
Comments (4)Hi Paul. I think they work as the colours are soft. I would swap the tartan and chevron cushion around though on the love seat and also add a solid colour cushion. Why not try both of the sofas at right angles to the fire with the loveseat opposite the fire so you can hang the tv above that. Pull the sofa away from the bay and put the console table behind it with a table lamp etc, If you're wanting to add colour I'd go for a shade of purple for a textured rug then maybe add a couple of yellow accessories which work reallywell with purple. If the mirror fits (?) I'd hang it over the fire, if not on the wall opposite the window....See MoreLiving room advice, wallpaper and curtains
Comments (12)Hi Beckie. You can put orange and yellow together, I've found a pic for you which should work with your neutral base. I like the way they've used a couple of darker accents to break up the warm tones. You could perhaps use the orange as the secondary colour so go for curtains with orange in with mustard as your accent, will see if I can find a couple of pics. Another colour that works really well with grey and mustard is teal or petrol blue. I've found a couple more geometric papers. I also like colourhappys idea of a textured paper, there are lots of faux grasscloth ones around and I like the rather expensive blue one I've pictured but the colour isn't true in this pic...See MoreRedecorating Living Room advice
Comments (8)Hi. It's quite difficult to get wood floors to work together with different plank widths, thickness, colour, grain etc. Personally I'd go for a chevron, it will make the room feel wider and I think would work well. Choose one which has one of the tones of the kitchen floor in it. If it's in budget, I quite like the design of the built in units by Cato Creatives in your ideabook. The raised storage part (which presumably would be useful) won't make the room feel any narrower as you can see the floor beneath. You could also paint behind the shelves in a darker tone to break up the long wall and disguise the tv. If the tv fits in the left alcove I'd put it there as it looks as if it would leave room for a chair where the tv currently is with a small side table? I'd add an arc lamp behind the sofa as per 3rd pic in black and brass. Depending on sofa size is there also room for a sofa table at the end of the sofa like the 3rd pic? I'd add a large round mirror over the fire and art behind the sofa. Which way does the room face as I might just go for a white with a hint of grey on the wall? If in budget I might just go for Roman blinds as they win the visually fill the room...See MoreLiving Room advice
Comments (12)Hi, I'd tone down the purple wall and bring in a large rug. Either in shades of purple, or in a grey/taupe tone that goes with the curtains and sofa. Your curtains are too short. They should (almost) touch the floor. Agree with the others that more art on the walls will give the room more personality. I would also change the ceiling light for a more modern one and add a floor lamp and a table lamp. I've added a plant too and a small table between the sofa and chair. See what you think:...See MoreUser
