What colour curtains for teal walls?

We have painted our walls in teal (Hawaiin Blue 2 from Dulux). We have a oxblood chesterfield armchair/sofa and we're going for copper accents, but totally unsure of what colour curtains to go for! We've considered mustard, but I'm worried that's too many primary block colours. Have also considered soft grey to try and lighten the room a bit. Help!

I think that you should paint your radiator to match the wall too.
The trick to using a deep colour on the walls (in my opinion) is to layer lots of other things so that there is great contrast. This means lots of pictures with pale mounts, pale curtains, a pale and patterned rug, a throw with texture, cushions with a punch of an accent colour so that your room looks opulent.

Looks good. I would maybe go for a similar shade of the blue or a slightly paler shade then pick up the accents in the copper as you suggest.

Our living room is blue, copper and navy and we had a nightmare choosing curtains. We ended up with white curtains as they give off an airy feel during the day. They might not appeal to you but thought I'd show as every pair with a colour I tried (and there were a lot) didn't look right! I've also included a pic of it done professionally so you can see how it can look rather than my botched job.

Hi Emma. Love the colour of your curtains and you chose a great wall to create feature wall. Although, I wouldn't go for any colour you picked on a wall. Feature wall is meant to give WOW factor. The colours you picked only will blend in the plum colour in this area and that's what I call "to play safe" and there will be no feature wall, just nice matching colour. I will suggest two options #1 To keep place bright and more feminine Cinder rose from F&B OR go for rich tone as a colour of your cushion, will look stunning indeed!! Personally I'd go for this one Rich Teal, Dulux. It works very well with Plum!

Hi Minnie and Carolina. Yes I changed it to Muga from Paint and Paper library. We bought some artwork for a joint 'big' birthday and felt it needed a more saturated wall to put it on. I have been teaching my students alot about dark/light versus dull/bright colours! Indian Yellow is lovely but I like the more retro feel of this.

We’d definitely recommend plains, patterns come in and out of fashion, whereas colour is timeless. Choosing a plains with a great texture also adds some sophistication. I’d go for oranges and yellows, they’ll really compliment the teal. Depending on how striking you want the curtains to be, but I'd go for a deep yellow velvet

I would go for the white. It's a great colour to bounce some light around and add to the contrast with the teal. If white isn't for you then a grey with blue undertones would work well also. Keep us posted! :)

As others suggest, what about mustard? This picture shows blue walls and a pop of yellow for the chair and it really makes the room sing.

Alternatively, why not run with your idea of a soft grey? This picture pulls together lots of colours you've already got going on - the red in your sofa will work well. You could always layer Roman blinds and curtains together as pictured to soften the overall effect.

I painted one wall of my teenage daughter's room in a dark teal and I absolutely love it. It looks great with the white built in wardrobes and blinds but also her dusty pink bedlinen as well. Elle Decoration has some teal walls in this month!
