Working out bifold sizes can any designers or architects help?
Comments (3)A larger window to the smaller bifolding doors would mean you get more kitech units, therefore more storage. So it would be beneficial to have a large window rather than bi folding doors on the smaller side. Saying that, Bi-folding doors do look great and they make the place feel more spcious. So the other option you have is to support the upper part of the wall with a RCJ (Steel) and have the bi-folding doors all the way across which would look great. It does all depend on time scale and budget. Comments (17)Sliding doors are proving very popular at the moment as they can stack to one side and not protrude into the garden space and be easier to move than full set of bi-folds so that would an approximate opening of about 4m with 3 x 1.250m (plus frame ) panel of glass that would all stack in parallel inline. Or you could try panoramic doors they are more versatile as they are detachable from each other and give you more options for you layout at the finish. There a tutorial on you tube ? Do you have building control on these works as I am finding that architects are making us use a lot more steel as in a goal post design for stability, depending on how wide you want to go with the opening?...See Moreorigin windows and bifolds or Aluk?
Comments (1)Hope you don't mind me commenting, we supply and install a range of aluminium products including lots of Aluk bifolds. We have fitted many other systems depending on specification and budgets of projects at the time and we believe that the bifolds are a great system that compare favourably to others in terms of quality and design options. We do not supply Origin products (they have network resellers) but can objectively say that they are really nice products and the company is very forward thinking with their marketing to homeowners, which is where they stand out. Aluk has a good range of commercial and residential products available and is certainly worth considering as an alternative, as although not cheap could be a more cost effective option. Hope that's helpful and wish you all the best with your project. Matt...See MoreGrey bifold and windows
Comments (11)I have anthracite sliding door at end of my kitchen and I also have a white framed bay window in the same room. I think it looks good - the walls around the bay are also white so it doesnt make the bay stand. If the windows were anthracite then I don't think they would look right in the bay window with white walls around. So, I think it depends on the surroundings....See MoreDaisy England
