What do I do with these two windows?
I'm in the process of decorating my dining room. The only two things I know about it are that it has to be a silver, gold & white theme and that all the furniture is white wood.
I'm really struggling to know what to do with these windows. I had a notion that I'd like to dress them with a grand elegant style of curtain, maybe crushed velvet somewhere? But do I do it to both windows? Do I do the main window & put a blind on the other? Or have I got it all wrong?
Any ideas? Any pictures of what might look good?
P.S The chandelier is staying.

Comments (9)I agree with Graham. You wouldn't believe the difference that reinstating the original windows will have. If the building is Victorian it will have been designed with traditional casement or sash windows. You can now get timber windows with double glazed units so they look traditional but have the thermal and acoustic qualities of a modern window. 7 years agoI imagine you want it too feel luxurious so you definitely need long curtains + the windows need to match. I'd be careful not to overdo the gold.

7 years agolast modified: 7 years agoThe thing is if you go for long curtains, when you pull them you will be blocking all the heat from the radiator that sits under the window, which is daft.
Admittedly longer curtains certainly add to a luxurious feel, but blocking your source of heat behind them won't work. Thus, I would stick to sill length curtains, but make the most of how they are made. Double pinch pleat with little buttons and a beautiful pole will add luxury.
Chenille or velvet in a plain gold or beautiful white would look stunning. Curtains to Go . You could also do either of the above ( chenille or velvet ) in silver Silver Chenille, Silver velvet
As an alternative ( because of the radiator ), Why not go for Thermal backed Roman blinds to drop at night, with full length curtains that you don't draw and are for show only.
Combining silver curtains such as those above with a lovely white plush blind in a similar material or dupion silk ( maybe with a little texture ) solves the problems. Blinds boutique
