Comments (9)I agree with Red80 re furniture layout. There are lots of good things in this room, I just personally find the cushions and blinds clash with the chandelier and wallpaper. I would swap the 2 geometric cushions for softer patterns in lighter grey/white/duck egg. I'd get something with different textures as the cushions fabrics look the same atm? Add accessories to your coffee table, maybe just a pile of books, a vase of flowers, and an "ornament" in wood/ceramic/pewter etc again for texture. When budget allows swap the blinds for Roman blinds. Try blinds 2 go or Tuiss which is their sister company if you're in the UK. I can't remember the exact price but I got pure silk Roman blinds for 2 really large windows for c£450 which sounds a bargain to me although not yet up:) I agree the mirror is a little high. If you can, without leaving a hole on show in the wallpaper, I'd lower it as long as it doesn't reflect the tv! I'm not sure the pics to the left of the window work as they're obscured by the curtains. Perhaps also a taller vase/pot in the blue for the tv cabinet to detract from the tv a little more? Alternatively you could change the wallpaper and the mirror to give the room a contemporary rather than classical feel...See MoreLong and narrow living room, please help!
Comments (10)It might be worth looking into a stove with a faux chimney breast. Just looking at your sofa, lamps etc it looks as if you like a classical/transitional style? If you did opt for that and it's feasible to install again I might position it off centre. http://www.woodburners.com/installations/no-chimney,-no-problem.html you may hate this idea but I have a large oriental wardrobe next to my fire which houses the tv. Your tv doesn't look huge so it may be an option if of course you like it. I only know of this one which is an actual tv cabinet or you could do as we did and drill holes in the back of the wardrobe (it obviously needn't be an oriental one but one that doesn't scream wardrobe!) https://www.oka.com/peking-handpainted-chinoiserie-tv-cabinet.aspx Although if you had a fire as the focal point you may find the tv fades into the background or paint the alcoves a darker shade etc. Re rug I suppose it depends if you move the leather seats into the play room but something with a subtle pattern might look nice? Have you looked for anything else to replace the leather? I like the storage unit you've found. It looks as if your side tables would work the other way round so you could have a media cabinet for cd's and dvds where the toys are currently stored or an apothecary cabinet may work well....See MoreHelp with living room decor please :)
Comments (8)All it really needs is something on the walls (love the arch mirror by the way). I love the decor colour you have chosen - it just needs a lift. So symmetrical mirrors would work, but maybe in a darker colour? Artwork is always good, whether a canvas, photos or prints. One large canvas or a gallery wall of photos over the sideboard would look good. You have a mustard yellow throw, so how about using that colour more in the room, say with cushions and artwork? Lots of colours go with that warm grey and I also think black can lift it like your lamp and console table. I agree that the tv is too high (neck ache!) but I also understand the wiring is probably chiselled into the wall, so ripping the stone tiles is probably not an option! I don’t think it will take much to jazz up this lovely room....See MoreHelp with living room please
Comments (18)The teal seems to be a winner :) i don't mind the tv where it is, the curtain is a little squished but you could change to Roman blinds keeping the one focal point with the fire. If you do want to wall hang it maybe consider something like this for over the radiator (to deflect the heat) but a bit deeper and have the front bit as a drawer to hide a sky box etc. I've got dark and light grey velvet sofas in 2 rooms, they have both survived the dog! I want to "get rid" of the light one but that's her window perch 😂 Loaf, for example, have offered "clever" velvet for ages but introduced clever linen some time ago which is meant to be stain resistant etc. I can't remember any of the companies now but have noticed a lot of "clever" fabrics appearing over the last year or 2. It may be worth getting samples and testing it out on your dog!...See Moretwamleyk
