Help with living room please
Changing sofa , tv, rug etc it isn’t our main living room but sofa so uncomfortable just don’t use it.
Doggie sits up on top of chair to look out of window 😊
Just don’t know what type of sofa to get love the jewel coloured sofas but I just don’t know what will work.
Any inspiration please, it’s a lovely bright room due to big windows.
I have put pics to show how it looks now.

Comments (6)I think you are playing too safe - it all looks too bland even with the cushions. You need another pop of colour - cushions on the natural sofa. Maybe a throw on the leather one. Definitely need a rug in the middle - looks like you are going for green, so perhaps pick out that colour for a rug. Comments (9)I agree with Red80 re furniture layout. There are lots of good things in this room, I just personally find the cushions and blinds clash with the chandelier and wallpaper. I would swap the 2 geometric cushions for softer patterns in lighter grey/white/duck egg. I'd get something with different textures as the cushions fabrics look the same atm? Add accessories to your coffee table, maybe just a pile of books, a vase of flowers, and an "ornament" in wood/ceramic/pewter etc again for texture. When budget allows swap the blinds for Roman blinds. Try blinds 2 go or Tuiss which is their sister company if you're in the UK. I can't remember the exact price but I got pure silk Roman blinds for 2 really large windows for c£450 which sounds a bargain to me although not yet up:) I agree the mirror is a little high. If you can, without leaving a hole on show in the wallpaper, I'd lower it as long as it doesn't reflect the tv! I'm not sure the pics to the left of the window work as they're obscured by the curtains. Perhaps also a taller vase/pot in the blue for the tv cabinet to detract from the tv a little more? Comments (42)I think that the fire place is beautiful as it is and does not need any make up!! The sideboard on the right is no so big at all and if painted with different colour than grey and distressed could become a much lighter piece with its own character. I would take the top off the left one and again shabby chick it, filling the doors with ornaments to make it more interesting. It is amazing what a transformation you can achieve with a bit of chalk paint! Comments (4)Hi Sarah, I love the colour of the walls - it’s a great backdrop for some art which I recommend you add to the walls. The colour schemes you’re thinking about for your cushions is perfect - I think coral, mustard and blue will be very eye catching. I’d suggest getting some cushions that are different sizes and shapes, and don’t forget to add texture as well! i don't mind the tv where it is, the curtain is a little squished but you could change to Roman blinds keeping the one focal point with the fire. If you do want to wall hang it maybe consider something like this for over the radiator (to deflect the heat) but a bit deeper and have the front bit as a drawer to hide a sky box etc.
I've got dark and light grey velvet sofas in 2 rooms, they have both survived the dog! I want to "get rid" of the light one but that's her window perch 😂 Loaf, for example, have offered "clever" velvet for ages but introduced clever linen some time ago which is meant to be stain resistant etc. I can't remember any of the companies now but have noticed a lot of "clever" fabrics appearing over the last year or 2. It may be worth getting samples and testing it out on your dog!

4 years agoThank you , not really keen on tvs on walls so will prob just get new stand.
Will check out sofas at weekend, we have fabric sofa in other living room and had no issues with it.
I do like wallpaper it was quite expensive and not had it very long so will probably keep.
I was looking at this window seat what do you think?

4 years agoI think a window seat could be lovely, however your alcove doesn't appear that deep in the photo, and a tv unit may look a bit odd and crowded. You could maybe consider shelves for the tv and sky box?
