Mirror design

I love this space! I understand the mirror was custom. Can you tell me if it was three separate mirrors (with the medicine cabinet in the middle) and millwork framed them together or if it was one piece. Exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks!

Hi pbeaudreau,

The whole arrangement was built by our millworker, but you're correct. There is a medicine cabinet behind the middle panel, and then the two outside panels are fixed mirrors attached to the wall, with one continuous frame going around all three.

hi - you might find that having ( if the budget allows ) a round moving floor area for your equipment - it can be set up so that it turns around slow enough for you to always have the best view whichever piece of equipment you are on at the time ! failing that having two or three screens for video / TV feed on different walls can help ... also hanging a tall 'standing desk' high enough for you to work on a laptop or tablet while on mini stepper can be a good idea ! plan , plan and plan again until you know everything fits and works with space around to get on and off and space for a fridge full of cold water / can / energy drinks is a great idea too ! ( and a litter bin !) add a softer rubber matted area for free weights... oh and a whiteboard is a good idea to keep track of your timings / reps etc and steps up to a lower piece of equipment ( like a rowing machine ) can double up as step area for box jumps and tread work etc ! ( if you are into cross fit ) - sorry this is a bit of a disjointed message - I'm typing (crosseyed) on a small phone !!!

You can stand the mirror straight onto the Fireplace, however, for safety sake, you would need two little mirror brackets ( they're not big ) to screw it to the wall, stopping it from the ability to slip. Also, they need to stand upright really, so the little brackets are kind of essential ! I had a very nasty accident once with a mirror resting on a shelf, nearly severed my thumb! Found one already, a very good fit at 109cm wide, so will fill most of your space, just needs re-finishing to your spec.

Hi Jen, That is a very good point; i'm fairly restricted on the placement of the toilet as the waste pipe has been concreted in to the floor below and is aligned inbetween the joists (travelling left to right in the diagram) i'm not sure if my builder will want to cut through the joists to re-route it. unfortunately we cant change the size of the window because its already been built and ordered; I wish we could. - There is a view, but its going to be frosted glass.. so that's no good either :-( We don't really use baths - there is one bath in the house in the main bathroom; and its unlikely to ever be used. Hence the love of showers we wanted a double shower - and I really like the idea of this: I'm toying with the idea of a single sink against the left or right wall; but again it would be a shame to have such a large space and not be able to use it.
