Internal sliding doors - help

hi there I have been watching lots of UK renovation shows where 2 living areas are separated from each other by sliding doors.

I was just wondering if anyone would know of a top mounted solution that could be used to divide a space of 3.5 wide x 2.4 high - a kitchen & a family/tv room - where 1 side has a 3.4 m wall (still to be built) that the door - or doors - could slide back into when open.

The reason for having a door is for acoustic separation - of the kitchen & tv rooms.

I'd love any ideas you may be able to share.

I have an opening 2.4m high by 2.9m wide. We had wooden doors with obscure glass made which slide into cavities. The doors hang from a mechanism at the top only (first photo).
I used obscure glass to avoid glare when watching television and also because it doesn't show figure marks as much as clear glass would.

great doors, I love the clean look of them, and thanks heaps for sharing. how do you find them for sound control?

Hello kim, Just ask your local builder or carpenter, they will be able to source a door and the right fittings and will hang everything. Pockets doors are a great space saving feature for smaller rooms, good luck! Jess

The door (and a fixed glass panel) are going in as a replacement for two windows and a pillar so the steel beam is already accounted for. I was more concerned about usability of sliding doors that tall.

Sorry for the late reply, as for sound control they aren't great but they may be due to the 4 children, dog, cat and husband in the house! Solid doors would be better for sound control but they didn't suit that position for us.
