Internal Crittal Doors

Hi there - I live in a 1930s Edinburgh flat and am knocking down a wall to create a large kitchen diner. We're thinking of putting in a crittal door that would look into the hallway and let light in. I'm worried they're not as sound proof as normal doors. Does anyone have experience or these?

Hi be very careful if you live in an apartment as you will probably require a fire screen and very few systems will meet the required certification and the ones that do are very expensive around £3000.00 per m2.

Sorry to be negative but we have so many enquiries and when we quote costs it can be a real shock.

You can use hardwood with fire glass which is so much cheaper but does not give you the look

Fiona - I’ve been looking into replacing some doors with Crittal style and have contacted loads of suppliers and companies. The one that I’ve been most impressed with is the company mentioned above by Lou Valdini - Merlin Windows in Yorkshire. (I’m in the East Midlands). They gave me a competitive quote really quickly and then I got a quote from the fitter mentioned. (They fit across the UK and they link in with Merlin to ensure timings etc). It’s likely that we will go ahead in the next few months. (Just need to convince husband as he prefers chunky timber 😂)

If you’re looking for the most common size in the link above which is 762mm wide then they are out of stock. We deal direct with J B Kind and order in from them regularly. We have access to their online portal and can see exactly what they have in stock. Other sizes are in stock (one of them with only 3 in stock) and you cannot buy direct from J B Kind. It is trade only but you can buy through such agencies like Leader Doors. Check out their carriage costs before ordering. It is high. We are based in Staffordshire and have access to these doors from J B Kind and other suppliers.
