I don’t think this survey tells you much and certainly not enough to decide to walk away. It hasn’t found the cause of the problem so there cost of the solution can’t be estimated. No Victorian houses were built with damp proof courses. They rely on being slightly raised from ground level. You might explore if a side path is too high, or if a rainwater gutter is running down the outside or if a drain has cracked. You might look at the cracking at the back- if paintwork only is cracked then it’s a maintenance issue but if the cracking affects the brickwork or can be seen inside then it’s more serious. Once you understand the cause of the problem you can better understand the costs involved. As far as repairing damage the survey doesn’t actually say what the damage is. It might be that when you take up floor coverings it’s fine or you might have some rot and need to replace timbers. It think you need to investigate further before you can decide. A builder or a timber and damp specialist needs to be able to lift floors and properly inspect. Be aware that some specialists charge for this service.

Hi Alex - another solution would be to move the kitchen. I appreciate an expensive but the rough sketch below gives you an idea of what it could be. Without the bathroom measurements this is a bit of a guess and it’s only roughly to scale. It may be too costly for now but it would definitely add value to your home so it would be a good investment long term. Moving the kitchen and removing the wall into the lounge would give you a lovely double aspect space with a dining area in the kitchen so much bigger lounging area, and direct access to the garden. The hall space is used for wardrobes (I wonder if this is under stairs though). Even so, it provides good storage, then a smaller bedroom that would be big enough for a double bed, bed side tables and space to move around it. Then bathroom (sensibly) off it. It looks like you have space for a utility cupboard in there so can keep the washing machine out of your living space. I have kept the loo as close to it’s existing position as the waste can be a real challenge. The current loo space makes the rest of the room awkward so I have blocked it off and you could open it up from outside as a useful garden store, paint pots, even bikes. As I said, it’s not fully to scale but that wouldn’t be hard for you to do. Good luck with it! Andrew

Hi Siwan, there are loads of options out there for alternates to hardwood/carpet that you could consider. Vinyl, wood, rubber and cork the list goes on. If you like the idea of wood but need a better price have a look at companies such as Karndean for their options. Cork is becoming a firm favourite as well with its sustainability credentials and is warm underfoot. Good luck with your searching!
