Just off the top of my head I don't think that its too much red, since your rug only has the slim red circle, and the couch has the red throw adding color. However, since you are the one there in the space you are the only one who can judge whether it too much color, or not. I'm glad that you think my ideas have been helpful-and, of course, I have a lot of company out here with a lot of good ideas, and design experience in a lot of cases....See MoreHelp making our dark narrow hallway more "finished"
Comments (19)I would add colour, perhaps change the floor depending on budget and add some nice storage where you hang your clothes rather than leave it open. You can have some kind of console under the stairs with lighting and a round mirror to make the place look spacious and perhaps small pendants , 3 or so, along the corridor. Definitely looks like it needs brightening up and lighting is key. However of course it depends on what you doing with the rest of the house, for example you could even change the stairs and have a nice runner . It is not just the hallway, but the entrance to your house and it all has to flow!...See MoreDark/small hallway and stairs, looking for colour ideas?
Comments (9)Hi Lucy - here are some Photoshop tryouts of some of the more daring hues in Farrow and Ball and Little Green (F&B 'Arsenic', Little & Green 'Leather' pink...) I can't vouch for the accuracy of online colour charts as you'll see them on your PC, but these should give you a broad idea of what you could do if you're keeping the beige carpet and dark grey paint (which I've extended to the skirting to make it easier to put stronger colours near the beige). A lot depends on the other colours you have in your house, and whether you want a 'warm' feel or a 'cool' one. For the 'off white' (which should show dirt less than pure white) I'd suggest using either a pale version of the carpet colour or a pale version of the band colour. If you want to go all out for really bright colours - or anything in the yellow or orange range - the beige carpet would have to go. Obviously, the band colour could be picked up in picture frames or other decorations. Hope this helps....See MoreHallway Assistance Required
Comments (8)Lovely spacious hall. I think a pale wooden sideboard would look fab against the dark walls, examples below. The first is from Oak Furnitureland. Also how about a bench storage seat? They provide a comfy seat and the lid lifts up, providing loads of storage. A company called Footstools & More sell them in hundreds of fabrics, including leather, and their customer service is excellent (I am a customer). Their Facebook page is full of photos and they make them bespoke too, if need be. The yellow one below would look amazing against your grey walls! But other colours are available 😊...See MoreDeborah Wood
