Extension / conservatory - upvc colour help!!!!

Help!! So I'm 22 weeks pregnant and very indecisive right now. We have lived in our ho e for 11 years and it needs an update. I contemplated moving as we only have one lounge/dining living area and my dream house would have a dining table in our kitchen(not big enough). with a young toddler our living room feels like it is being taken over by toys! . I also looked at knocking through walls to open the house up but right now the separation seems to work to eliminate kitchen dangers. We have opted for an orangery style conservatory off from the living room to add some much needed space. Initially it may be a play room or become a lounge area. Our external windows are rosewood which I have never been a fan of and think it looks dated and would prefer to lighten up the garden as it's east facing. We have been recommended to have grey or white (hate) What colour upvc would you have and can you make any suggestions on improvement for the design?? Many thanks x

6 years agoI also don't like grey- I would choose white but agree that soft green or cream can look nice with brick. Personally I would change the door and window configuration as you only have one wall to put furniture on and I'll bet you need more storage.

Comments (192)If you were our client, we would first assess which way the house faces in order to understand the direction of the sun and the likely impact on the space in terms of light and heat, plus we would ask what use you intend to place on the new space. It is also the case that with whatever heating - a fully glazed conservatory can seem an inhospitable space in the winter months. Even in the UK heat gain during our short summer is a major consideration and whilst roof blinds can be added - these can spoil the original design intent. A part solid / part glazed roof with fully glazed walls may be the most successful. Yes that's very true as we're one of the only houses with the original 80s windows still, so people won't pay out just for a different colour if there windows are still okay. We really love grey, I am just worried it'll look out of place or not as good as I'd be hoping. I may have found the solution... I've been googling today & noticed slim profile UPVC windows exist (Aluminium is out of our budget). As one thing that put me off UPVC grey Windows was that the frame seams more obvious than white somehow & I don't like the thick,chunky frame of some UPVC Windows so that maybe an option. 6 years agoI would probably go for black, as I'd be worried about green dating. I would also swap the windows with the patio doors, or I think it will make your dining room too dark
