Ideas for en suite/walk in wardrobe space in Bedroom
Comments (2)Hello Leesh, It sounds like you rather like the idea of an en-suite and so I would perhaps suggest you go with it, rather than do one thing and then re-do it later. You mention the house has one single loo.. So would this mean presumably that you would also then situate a loo downstairs? If so perhaps you might consider turning the loo into a small wet room style shower room.. A wall hung loo and small sink would give you enough room for a small shower room fully tanked of course as they are lovely. If there is a bathroom with bath for example elsewhere on the upper levels then it could be one way of dealing with this smaller space.. Alternatively you may prefer to have a walk in closet.. Mind you.. If the bedroom is large enough you may be able to incorporate a walk in closet in the room itself.. I'm elaborating on your initial dilemma, but it may help you to decide just what you need and where exactly.. : ))...See MoreFlow from downstairs floor to upstairs
Comments (2)Hey, if you like a wood colour and want a smooth transition between floor and a carpet, I'd go with taupe.. But it also depends on the furniture you would pick (or already have). Also grey is a bit colder than taupe so I believe you need to consider if furniture and general feel of the 1st floor would be more cold modern etc or more warm cozy and soft..but it's just my opinion, I'm sure either of them will look great! ;)...See Moreremove the en suite and dressing room? - floor plan redesign
Comments (14)Jonathan, I really like your idea. I think you are right about the structural wall. But the wall behind the little toilet is a stud wall! The east window in the hall allows in natural light so I think I should keep it. Building on your idea, how about this version? In this scenario, we re-instate the south facing bedroom door so that there is one less door on the east side. As per Jonathan's idea, we create a shower room from the bedroom in the north-east corner. Does it flow? Dear Houzzers, please share your wisdom . :) Where is the best place for the shower room door: where it is now or in the little corridor? Will you feel claustrophobic in the corridor because it is just over 90cm wide and has walls on both sides? What is the ideal side of that shower room? If take out 1.5m from the bedroom, I get a 2.5 x 2.5m square bedroom/study and a 2.3 x 1.5m shower room. Will these sizes work for shower room and study/bedroom? Thanks a million....See MoreLayout of master suite - bedroom/ ensuite/ walk in wardrobe
Comments (36)I like Jonathon’s first drawing for a couple of reasons. You can have a walk in wardrobe for all the hanging clothes, which can end up looking a bit messy, and have the more traditional type of wardrobe for items that can be boxed up, such as handbags and shoes, and folded clothes / drawer items. I think a walk in wardrobe is better without a window as natural light can fade clothes, so much better to have a bright bathroom with 2 windows. Finally, as you’re building the internal walls from scratch you could look into having a pocket door system into the en suite thereby preventing a swinging door getting in the way of either the wardrobe or the shower....See MoreHenrietta Butchart
