Need help finding paint alternative(s)

Hi,

I've two paint dilemmas:

I'm looking for a beigey colour to go in our hallway. Little Greene Limestone looks perfect. It's got brown/yellow undertones that help match the hardwood floor so it all looks soothing. I'm after a 'match' or similar colour to it from Dulux or similar so that I get use a more wipe-able type of paint. As we're quite active, the hallway always gets marked.

I've also fallen in love with Little Greene Joanna, which is almost perfect for our bedroom. I think it's just a bit too light, so does anyone have a recommendation for a slightly darker colour? Again, we have a yellow/y beige carpet and some orange toned oak, so we need a colour that has yellow/orange tones.

Little Greene do an "Intelligent Matt" version. It's washable and very durable, we use it all the time :)

Agree with Jason! They also do an intelligent eggshell which I'd say is scrubbable. It does however have a very slight sheen which would show up any imperfections. Have you looked at rolling fog?

You can't get greener than a dog grate and farmed logs or bio-mass logs. In it's day the fireplace would have burnt coal. Cheap imported coal burns quickly and has too much fumes, but a real nautral fire would be gorgeous, economical and green. The ash would also be amazing for the garden plants.

We had a similar project and gutted the house. Rewire replaster all walls and ceilings. We restored the original parquet flooring and then new carpets everywhere else. Knocked through between kitchen and dining room, new garage roof. New doors and work surface but kept the original kitchen units. Kept the bathroom but put in a new floor. Did this for about £10k. Now 18 months later we're looking at extending the kitchen diner into a big open plan room going out the back as you have suggested but also out to the side. Our neighbours have done similar and we think we can get it done for about 30-40k not including the kitchen. The side extension means a fair bit of structural steel so if you don't do this then it saves a fair bit - our other neighbours have done this. We want an open but defined space so we're looking at keeping a pillar (also cheaper) then having an L shaped kitchen diner around a more relaxed sitting and entertaining area. The idea being that for dinner parties you mill around and have drinks in here before going to eat. Also can have friends round for coffee etc while the front living room remains the primary TV watching area. We'd keep a small boot room off the back for the dog, a pantry in the middle and a toilet at the front. See below for some pictures that illustrate our plans. These are mine and just awaiting our architects plans. In summary I'd get it up to a basic standard until you've got a bit more then go big, although as you say with your cheap labour you might get what you want for the money!

Help choosing paint colour/s for hallway and landing space

Hi, I'm currently going through the same issue, Trying to find the right combo of paints to paint the hallway. I am looking to panel the part beneath the dado to prevent the ever so frustrating scuffing which occurs at sharp corners and am unsure on the colour combo. I was considering grey and white too but I'm scared that it may make the space feel too cold and dull especially as the only light will be through the door which won't be much. What colour combo's would you recommend to make the space feel luxurious and modern, yet not too clinical and cold?? I'd like the paint to be dulux preferably. what is the quality of Valspar paint like, I've seen it at DIY stores but don't know if it reaches standard of dulux? any reviews?? thanks

Best way will be to find local Trade paint specialist - and ask them for match colour - will be very close and chose base - acrylic durable mat/diamond matt or soft sheen finish. Match there will be 99% - ask for equivalent :)
