Hi David, A couple of questions: I assume that you're making a bespoke unit? Do you need access to the AV equipment for control, or are you going to use a separate control system (Control 4, Dusky, Magic Eye etc) so that the AV equipment can be behind a door? If you're going to use a separate control system, then you could get doors made that can cover up all the equipment and be made to look more symmetrical as they can be wider, possibly the whole width of the unit. Something a bit like this: One thing though, if you put doors onto a unit, please design in some ventilation, otherwise the equipment will cook

Hi Dynamo, I'm responsible for the design in your photo and delighted you like the look of this room. You would only need a few square meters of the split mosaic tiles which are available of sheets, so not expensive for a striking feature. Also, easy to keep free of dust with a quick once over with a dust pan brush, or brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner . WC's are often overlooked but when you consider its a room you use every day and your guests use too, why not make it an enjoyable experience! An alternative and very inexpensive idea for your walls and my signature in practically every home I renovate, is installing 6mm MDF panelling with a 10mm shadow gap in between each panel, apply with Pink Gripfil adhesive. 600mm x 600mm square or horizontal panels of any height add a sense of depth and soul to boring flat, painted walls. A sheet of MDF is cheap as chips, just make sure you prime and undercoat thoroughly with a mini roller before applying eggshell finish or acrylic paint. It's not a main bathroom so not susceptible to humidity, therefore emulsion paint in a contrast shade will work well too. Min distance between gas hob and a side wall (no wall cabinets)?

Just had a quick look on the neff website installation download and for a 700 gas hob it says a minimum of 150mm is required between the cutout and a side wall, for a 700 hob the cut out is only 560mm so the hob is wider by 70mm each side, this leaves an 80mm gap between the hob top and a wall. But as stated above, having room for pan handles and space to put a pan down is a good idea. Best to look up the installation instructions for your hob model and see what it says or have a word with a gas safe engineer as you will need one to connect the hob safely.

Hi - I can’t say for sure, but the plumber might be able to board that wall and gain a small void to sink the pipes into. (This might also give you a small shelf that could be useful). If you didn’t want to lose any space, another option would be to get a bath filler that fits onto the waste outlet. I have a grohe one that’s brilliant (I hate the look of taps!). Mine is controlled via the same valve as our over bath shower (on a wall). If you don’t have any wall space at all, there are other brands that have the controls built into the filler itself.
